New Signings

Gibbs is the one who got sent off in our live FA Cup match against Notts County and was never seen again.

Looked a good player until then, plenty of football league experience.

Should be an interesting visit back to Stonebridge Road for the twat next season if he's still there.....

.....btw, we believe he still has a 3 match ban to serve, seeing as it was implied by the FA at the start of march, although we're not sure completely.

I've got a feeling that these defenders might be here to replace the ones that won't be able to make the Conference away games next season.

I'm sure Wardy and probably Chenners can't make the long distant trips on Tuesday nights, leaving work at lunch-time etc.

Anyone know if these two new blokes can play left-back? I think we need a natural one of them incase we change to 4-4-2 - which we might, seeing the prefered Conference state of play - Long 'Hoof' etc.

I think Gibbs can play left back. Also think he is a decent penalty taker. Seem to remember him taking penalties when he was at Plymouth and then Brentford. Could be a great signing.

Providing he sticks around. He was looking to get back in the Football League when he was at Fleet and showed himself to be a Big-Time Charlie in our FA Cup game against Notts Co. Then he just disappeared off the face of the earth... still, at leats he can replace Miller and Stimson in our affections next season... I was beginning to wonder who I'd hurl abuse at when you came to town... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

McGhee is a great signing, I doubt there will be many tougher players in the Conference. I played alongside Dave for local teams in Cornwall after leaving school before he joined Brentford. He's a great centre half and also very good at holding the midfield and he'll get a few goals.

Can't see what incentive Wardy may have for joining Grays. Sure he would like to give the Conf a crack next season. With his job, there may be occasions when he cannot play away midweek but there will be some fairly local away games as well, Daggers, Aldershot, Farnboro, Gravesend, Margate, Crawley? others I may have missed.

With our recent signings, we don't know what their role will be and that's if they come up to the standard. A couple of years ago, we signed players who had a good CV but failed to deliver for the club. The new guys will have to prove themselves as well that they are up to it.

Can see the opportunity for quite a bit of squad rotation at the back but we should have good cover always.

Hate to put a spanner in the works but Wardy has already been awarded a goal, in the right end. Can't remember who it was against, can say it was a tuesday night, we won 2-0, wardys goal was a cross that their defender got a foot to, completely wrong footing the keeper, own goal to me, but wardy's goal to the announcer and i assume the ref!
