Weird phone call...

[Chubbhead EFM]

This morning (4.30 am to be exact), some bloke phoned me up and claimed to know me. He had with-held the number and the conversation went something like this:

 

Bloke: "Hello (my real name), how are you?"

Me (half asleep): 'who are you?"

Bloke: "It's me, don't you remember me?"

Me (laughing!): 'No! Who are you'

Bloke: "It's me! Why are you not in bed then?"

Me:" I am, you woke me up"

Bloke: "Why are you laughing so much?"

Me: 'because I've got to get up for work soon!" (that was a lie-hehehehe!)

Bloke: " Oh right, well I just thought I'd give you a wake-up call. Bye"

Me:'Okay, see yer!"

 

I can't believe I actually had a proper(ish) conversation with him! He's lucky I'm not grumpy when I wake up!

 

Scary thing is, he knew my name (although he pronounced it wrong, which is why I'm certain it wasn't any of my friends). How the [****!!****] did he get my number? He sounded like he was on the internet (I could hear typing) so I thought maybe he got my details from there (which is why I checked my account today to see if he's managed to nick any of my money!) It's all very scary!

 

To top it all, as I was locking up the shop this evening, the alarm went off and as soon as I got in to turn it off the phone rang. Luckily it was the alarm company, but my mind was racing thinking it was gonna be like one of them horror films! Ridiculous I know, but at the time it was really scary!

I would switch your phone off as soon as you go to bed Chubbo. Funnilly enough Zeal was threatening to give me your number in his drunken state last night!

Chubbhead.

A few years back I kept having voice messages left on my mobile by a bloke threatening to "shoot your fking kneecaps off" or "shoot your fking head off", etc...

Couldn't trace the number...and weirdly, he never called when the phone was on!

This went on nightly for 3 weeks and I started getting paranoid, as the company I worked for had made lots of enemies....blah blah.

 

One day I pulled up at my house and there were two blokes standing suspiciously opposite my house. I faced my fears...took it like a man, and went up to 'em and asked "Are you waiting for me?".

They were a bit confused, looked at eachother and said "No??"

 

Anyway, I eventually found out who it was making the calls when I played one of the messages to my guv'nor.

I rang the mystery caller [who was an occasional contractor for the firm] and it seems he mistook my mobile number for someone else's. He was well embarrassed.

I'm just glad he didn't mistake my number plate as he DID own a shotgun!!!

Hmmmm, i had a conversation like that at 2am in the morning once!! Turned out that it was my ex-bloke (well he is now - but not at the time!) whilst he was out on the town! I was asleep, he was wasted and we had that sort of conversation!! Very strange!!!!!!

Chubbster - if it were some bloke trying to con money out of your account on the internet, I wouldn't have thought he'd have phoned you at 4.30am, as you'd just get suspicious (as you have done!) He'd have called during the day, pretending to be Market Research or something.

 

My bet is, it's that Borehamwooooood fella, taking the piss.

No, definitley not the Wooooooodd fella, as it didn't sound anything like him and it's not like him to do that sort of thing. Anyway, he hasn't called again and all my money is still there, so I've stopped worrying now!
