Discipline - what's that?

Recommended Posts

Feb 28 - Rob Smith dismissed from dugout for comments made to a linesman. Since been charged by FA. Club response; nothing.

Mar 6 - Two players attack two supporters. FA inquiry imminent. Club (chairman) response, "I would have done the same." No action against players but victims threatened with ban.

Mar 13 - Brown gets into a slanging match with Bishop's Stortford fans and offers to fight them. Club response; nothing. Stortford report Brown to the FA.

Mar 20 - City physio Mark Goddard has an on-pitch argument with the referee. Club response; likely to be nothing.

This is madness. How much more damage has to be done to the club before the manager or chairman show the remotest sign of disciplining those under their control. Clearly certain players are not under control and have a licence to behave in any manner they see fit without fear of retribution.

I notice the chairman described the three who were attacked as "supporters" in quotes in his programme notes. Is this sarcasm or his starting to believe his concocted version of events?

I hear that Tavs was also verbally abused by Bill Nick on Saturday. Would anyone from the club like to comment on that?

Webbo - any chance of a clarification of your opinions on this whole matter?

Who do you think was in the wrong? - The 2 players, or the 2 supporters who were attacked?

What is your opinion on how the club should have dealt with the whole issue - Blame the supporters and write to the local press, falsely accusing the supporters of racism, but seemingly giving no punishment to the players involved...or punish the players involved and apologise unreservedly to the supporters who were attacked?

What do you think City supporters should do about all this? Ignore it, go along with everything the club says and try and silence any supporters who protest (by attempting to ridicule them)...or continue to raise the issue until the supporters feel it has been dealt with in a fair and reasonable way?

I'm just interested in your opinions as you seem reluctant to explain them clearly on here today.
