St Albans 0 Harrow 1

Recommended Posts

This was a funny old game. Just as we were settling down to the horizontal rain and players sloshing about in the mud Harrow go and score. Lots of goalbound chances for us after that but somehow the ball stayed out, mainly due to the Harrow keeper. As the game went on, it looked increasingly unlikely that we would score, even with the gale behind. Watts and Clarke looked sharp up front but had little or no support. People were saying 'what a load of cr*p' on the way out but it wasn't a bad team performance, we just couldn't get a goal. Not sure what the answer is, we seem to be playing as well as we can with the players we've got, maybe we need to try and get a couple more in before transfer deadline day.

More concerning for the City Faithful (are there any left these days?) should be the declared gate. No thousand, one hundred and ninety-five was the lowest in the division on Saturday, less even that the hardy souls who witnessed Purfrock v The Mighty Iron.

Where have you all gone? Seems a long way from Tom Meredith's winning goal in front of over three thousand against Boston eh?

Now those WERE happy days ...
