Brimsdown pitch

Recommended Posts

Summer is coming! Everyone has struggled to play football on the Goldsdown Rd pitch this year. Are there any specific plans to improve the quality of the playing surface in time for next season?

With the pitch now being enclosed it should make it easier to give the pitch some TLC. Maybe Man Utd could send some of their old sods down to us for our pitch seeing as they tend to replace their pitch every other week?!

I gather watering the pitch was a problem last year, is this still going to be the case this year?

I'm also a little concerned about what will happen to the Brimsdown 'stadium' over the summer when the little darlings are milling about during their summer holidays - how about some razor wire and a couple of big dogs?

No disputing that other teams have coped better with the pitch. I prefer to watch nice 'passing' football rather than the 'which divot is it gonna bobble off now' stuff we've been treated to this season. I'd far rather we were beaten by better footballing sides than by some of the hackers who've chanced upon points at Brimsdown this season. The pitch needs a bit of grass seed and plenty of water over the summer and that's just for starters!

I personally like the idea of have a machine gun tower on each corner of the ground, spraying the little darlings who try coming near. Can Andy sponsor that, do you think?

Gonzo - I am sure your offer of help will be appreciated.

Are you going to come down and water the pitch?

Are you going to help with continued improvements?

Are you going to provide the funding for extra fencing/razor or otherwise?

If you answer yes to any of these then "respect"

Roy and his team do a brilliant job with the very limited resources, so shut up or put up.

Sorry, been bit busy.

I knew someone would say "well why don't you do it yourself?!". I'm not after anyone's 'respect', and I get the impression I wouldn't be welcomed with open arms by everyone. Still, perhaps if I had the time I would give it - quite simply at this point I don't. Should I win the lottery then I'll send a chunk ETFC's way. I certainly wasn't demeaning anyone's work, in fact I'm very grateful for the efforts of others which allow me to support my local club.

At the beginning of this season I heard tales of Brimsdown not wanting to waste money watering the pitch. Whether or not this was true we ended up with a rock-hard dustbowl which turned into a bobbly mud-bath. Just thought I'd find out what the plan was.

Would there be a health & safety or planning issue with the machine guns?

Surely the big problem with machine guns is the stray bullets hitting the new fence? Then people could peer through the bullet holes and watch the games without paying.

A more practical solution could be to lay a minefield around the outside of the fence. I'm sure Southport would volunteer to lay all the mines on a Sunday morning.

Gonzo - too many people sit back and criticise and don't do anything about it. By all means make comments (free speech is alive and well) but put some action in with the comments.

If you don't have the time, then fine; but if you want to come along and help then you are welocme (not sure about open arms tho!!)

glad you are able to support your local club; better than having to go to Ware, !

It seems to me that most people are either making suggestions or asking questions, both of which they are perfectly entitled to do. They are also entitled to make a criticism if they feel it is warranted, and do not have pay to for the privelige by joining the working party.

I did once ask why the working parties are necessary if we have received a grant to pay for the upgrading work.

The grant was made to Brimsdown and was only to bring the ground up to standard for the present league. to obtain Ryman B status we have had to fund reaise and certain individuals also deserve all of our thnks for all the hard work done on Sunday mornings.
