[color:"red"] [/color] How many games in how many weeks have we got? There seems to be a game every few days nowadays.

14 league games to play in 6 weeks, that means in 2 of the weeks we play 3 games.

Lovely jubbly for us fans, pity the players though not enough time for getting over knocks etc..

But then this sort of situation can work in our favour if we get a run going.

So let's take each game as it comes and with the fans getting right behind the team as you have been all season.

Then we have the dreaded 3 months or so of no footie apart from Euros of course.

Was it 3 or 4 years ago, when Canvey had to play 9 games in 11 days, some of them I recall being like 2pm on a week day. (Correct me if I'm wrong Canv fans) it must of been the year that played Forest Green in Trophy Final, and on the day they played at 2pm, I think they had to play again that evening.

 

So 3 times a week, that is normal for being succesful, we have not had a first team mid week game since middle of January for Essex Senior Cup. I would love to be able to watch us every mid week, least I have got Broomfield Reserves V Braintree Reserves next week.

Half right Mark. Yes we did have to play 9 games in 11 days or something like that and that was the year we won the Trophy but we never had to play two games in a day.

Ironically I think the Urchins had that scenario of playing two games in a day that season

I was just looking at Canvey's fixture pile-up in the Isthmian site's archives - and I have to say, looking back, their record was petty damn good - with no decent resting time in-between games, for a good 15 games:

Particularly the last 8 league games ! Canvey fans, what was going through your minds when you watched a football game every day in those last few days of the season? And then to go on and lift the Trophy as well ! Amazing stuff.

 

And yes, in 2000-01, Hornchurch, then in Ryman Div 3, played two games in one day:

It was actually slightly more than that - there was also 1 game abandoned at half time, and one that was abandoned just before kick off.

 

It became a bit farsical in the end - but several of us did make every game smile.gif

after Hitchin Town and Northwood we have the run in of...

 

Hendon at Home

Away to Grays

Away to Bedford (i know their around 15th but on a Tuesday night up to Bedford it aint going to be easy )

Home to Carshalton

 

With these matches coming up i think we have to use the Hitchin and Northwood matches to get back to top form !
