Hodges (with an 's' !)

PJ-STFC

Recommended Posts

The only way to remember a name is by frequent repetition.

People keep posting to the other Ian H thread, and thus I keep seeing the H name (with no 's') highlighted, re-inforcing the incorrect spelling.

Hence I've started this thread to help us all remember it is HODGES, with a most definite 's' on the end.

I've quickly scanned the most obvious pages of the Official STFC Website, and all occurrences I found were correctly spelt HODGES[color:"blue"]*[/color].

However, I did not read all the match reports, so some of these may still be wrong.

What do you suggest we do shoot the reporter if they get a name wrong?

Once upon a time reporter took pride in their jobs and made sure they spelt a name correctly. If they didn't their job was on the line, and they got stick from both the family of the person whose name was spelt wrong, and supporters. After all who wants to buy a newspaper that spells your son's name wrong!!
It breaks my heart when I see obvious mistakes in the papers or on teletext. The official response from teletext is they don't have time to check every page for errors in a fast moving news environment. Translation - we can't be bothered

In the middweek observer this week, I noticed two mistakes.

1) At the top of every page, it says "Wednesday, 17th March 2004". All of them that is, apart from the sports page, which says: "Friday, 17th March 2004".

2) In the preview colum on the sports page, it says something like "As Slough hosted Croydon Athletic on Saturday and Worthing last night", but I don't think we play Worthing until next month.

Just thought I'd mention that...

I made a similar point in recent weeks regarding footballers performances. It was rightly pointed out that everyone is entitled to make mistakes. Quite right but repeated mistakes do warrant public flogging.

You have to feel sorry for the reporters though given the programme, the forum from which some borrow heavily and the supporters who sing Hodge s less.

But it is Hodgey to me so never worry to much.
