Come on Unc, I think the memory is going! As I remember it, when we went for interviews as youngsters, it was a likely to be a Hairy arsed old biddy of a Welfare Officer, who had run the factory single handed for the last twenty years, and was likely to throw us over the Board room table, giving our [****!!****] a good smacking with her employee disciplinary riding crop and then telling us when we were expected to start!

I worked with one of these magnificent ladies once - she had hired most of the top management team as youngsters and they were all still terrified of her!

On one occasion, the Security Guards came into the office to tell her that there was a fight in the factory cloakroom, which she quelled with a single "Stop this nonsense immediately!" However the following day she had a bad wrist and when asked what happened said that they had been a bit slow separating in the fight so she thumped the pair of them. Wouldn't go down well these days, but I wish there were still a few of them around!
