I heard Yesterday that Stevie Jones has decided to call it quits from Professional Football from imediate effect.

Steve you have been a great servant to the club and a fantastic player scoring so many goals to help us towards our ambitions. You have been the defenition of everything that is Hornchurch FC, Bleeding with Spirit and Heart. Best of Luck Steve with Your future and i hope you won't be a stranger and that one day return to HFC in some capacity.

Too right he's a Legend...one of the reasons I started following the urchins....will be missed by many.

He'll always be loved over at West Ham, especially by those of us in the Chicken Run where he used to run to when he scored!

 

His most famous moment of course was back in 93, when he scored our opener at sh&t hart lane, sending the thousands of Hammers behind the goal ballistic, great game as we went onto win 4-1 and send the spuds further into relegation trouble.

My picture by the way is taken from when he scored our equalizer at Notts County in the FA Cup.

I was at that game too, think Lord was there also, in the days he used to go everywhere!!!!

Notts County [away] January 29th 1994 1-1 attn 14,952 - a great weekend. Stayed at my ex-sister-in-law's place at Gotham, Notts.

 

I remember the game for having a really painful wrist, which began at the West Ham vs Norwich match during the week [3-3 draw].

 

Couldn't stand it any longer...was affecting my work... so the Monday after the Notts C game went to casualty, and they confirmed I had broken my left wrist.

 

The frivolity of youth, eh - lol.

Yeah we took the whole end that day, we ended up beating them at home, last minute of extra time I believe, Lee Chapman goal.

Yeah...I've dug out the record book. That's right. Lee Chapman - before his wife took to wearing the gum shield!

 

Next round - Kidderminster away, won 1-0. Chapman again!

 

QF - had Luton drew 0-0. that Luton player [son of Mud singer...wotz 'is name!] ran us ragged down the right wing, and Lee Chapman got booed off.

 

Replay, no surprise - got beat 3-2 [Mad Dog & Bishop got our goals]

I was at Kidderminster away, as was Lord.

Was also at the 1/4 final Luton replay which we lost 3-2.

Worse thing was, if we'd have won, the semi was against chelscum at Wembley!

I was so gutted, I took the rest of the week of work sick!
