A bit late coming back on this one, but better late than never.

 

Sorry but no. They have a "Tin", literally a folded peice of tin (L shaped) about 8 feet long and 1 foot high that sits on the bottom. The puck has to rest on the Tin to count as a goal.

 

I know these weird and wonderful facts as my wife plays and is currently in New Zealand for the Under Water Hockey World Championships, which start next week, where she is representing Great Britain in the Masters Squad.
