Have we turned f..king sh.t or something? Ironically we only need 15 points as Hornchurch can only get to 101 points.

Still bit of a p.ss take this! Just play your strongest side instead of sodding around with positions and giving fringe players a run out.

Do that when the season is over not now! I think in reality we only need another 3 or 4 wins but this is really starting to p.ss me off!

Looks like we're limping towards the title!

Maybe there's something between Jeff and Unc' to take it to the final game?

Seriously though, the Official website doesn't even have Potter down on the bench! Is he ill or something?

I didn't think the changes were that bad this evening it was mostly what they were suggesting on here, bar Ashley.

Is there still a chance of us picking up the title the day we play 'Ricay? If not I can see this being VERY nailbiting!

BTW - It's Telford in the Semis if anyone's interested!

Once again team selection has cost us a game, what the F**k is Kingy doing, could it be like Ferguson that he is letting his personal feelings about players affect his selection? I think he is punishing certain players for their performance on saturday when it was his team selection that cost us the game.He was the one who moved Chenners out of defence and he was the one who dropped Greggors, sorry but the buck stops with him!

Just got back from HAYES what can I say once again we deserved to lose, a great 2nd goal from Hayes but we were poor tonight we really didnt compete.

What disappoints me more was the moans from the Canvey fans. We are 17 points clear but you would think we were in mid table the way some people moaned. I am sure that there are 23 other clubs in our league who would love to be in our position. It is a long season and we cant win every game.

I am sure we will be back to winning ways on Saturday. I am very pleased that we are playing Alyesbury this weekend. That game has come at the right time.

For those not at the game tonight Danny Potter didnt play as his wife gave birthday to a baby girl. Congratulations to Danny and his wife.

Well hang on here chaps - if we do want to win this League lets win it first before we start sodding about with the team, lets not tempt providence. Once won, there should be a few games spare to have a fool around!

Its always about this time every season, we seem to lose interest/form or whatever.

7 lost out of 9 in 3 games! once the rot starts!! is always a fear as far as I am concerned.

For those of us who left worked early, skipped a proper dinner and made the 85 mile journey around the M25 hoping to see Canvey bounce back from their dismal showing at the weekend, last night was something of a disappointment. Another disappointment. Whereas in the past I have enjoyed standing on the terraces cheering each Canvey pass as we have kept possession and dominated play, last night I felt as low as I can remember when the half dozen or so vocal Hayes’ fans were chanting, “Can we play you every week?”

There were many players last night who, once again, failed to rise to the occasion and what I consider to be a mediocre Hayes side had so much of the play. Canvey’s only goal came from a penalty but that shot apart, the keeper Jallow had very little to do.

There will be complaints about the poor referee and his inability to do anything about the physical nature of many Hayes players but it’s my belief that Canvey need to get a grip and learn to deal with conditions that are less than favourable. We will meet tough, physical players in the higher leagues and it’s not enough to simply roll over and die. There will be diabolical referees but we have to shrug our shoulders and get on with it. Remonstrating with a ref rarely causes him to change his mind; something Canvey fans might have thought about as they hurled abuse at him as he walked down the tunnel at half-time. Having said that you can understand their anger even if you can’t condone it. Both Hayes goals came following fouls on Canvey players that went unchecked while Hayes broke away quickly to score.

Canvey started reasonably enough but it soon became clear that the Hayes game plan was for players to go down as soon as they were touched and to appeal to the ref. There were so many free-kicks around the home penalty area, all thwarted Canvey attacks, that I lost count. On the other hand Boylan was kicked and pulled all over the place but the referee simply grinned at any appeals. Canvey found it so difficult to get close enough to put in any shots and long range shots were either far wide of their target or not strong enough to worry Jallow. Service from the flanks was sorely missed and even Chris Duffy on a good day (even Ben Chennery in a flanking position on a bad day) would have provided an alternative route to the central one that was so regularly blocked.

At the other end it was a different story as Canvey backed off running attackers far too easily and allowed Hayes far too much easy access to Harrison’s goal. This is another thing that Canvey are going to have to deal with – running attackers who make a beeline for the 6yd box. They have to be stopped and backing off and off and off will not stop them.

Fortunately other results went Canvey’s way last night and we have to be far more philosophical about the present position. Hayes would have been happy to swap positions with Canvey last night. Lose a game but still be 17 points in the lead. Let’s not lose sight of the war, just because a battle was lost.

Well my suggestions for the game were just about the starting line up except for Potter and we still got turned over, so I'll give up playing Football Manager!

Congratulations Danny!!

The score did not surprise me too much as I was quite impressed with Hayes in our home game and the finishing was the difference on that day.

Again on that day we backed off up to our penalty area.

Remember some of the Southend goals where a tackle did not come in as they approached. Also remember when we played Aldershot at home last season. They never let our attackers get near their area as 3 or 4 crunching tackles came in.

Just hoping that the current results are just a temporary blip on what has been our best ever league season. Just a shame that 3 out of the 4 lost this year have had Ash in goal. Ooops!!!
