Upcoming Games

The race for a top six finish has been close all season, but lately it seems some of the contenders have slipped up a bit giving even more teams further down the table a chance of making the 'promotion places'. 5th-11th is only separated by 4 points, things couldn't be any tighter. However looking at the next few match day fixtures things could be about to change!

Many of the 'promotion' battlers are playing each other in March and some teams are bound to fall away. If we continue to win our matches we may find by the end of March we could have a bit of breathing space, all IF'S and BUTS i know but we might as well be optamistic.

Tue 16th March

Hampton & Richmond V Croydon Athletic

Lewes V Bromley

Sat 20th March

Croydon Athletic V Staines Town

Leatherhead V Lewes

Windsor & Eton V Hampton & Richmond

Sat 27th March

Lewes V Croydon Athletic

Staines Town V Leatherhead

One more point, Worthing are lurking in 7th with up to 6 games in hand on some teams, however im starting to wander if Worthing could be THAT team that falls at the last hurdle. They have a masiive fixture pile up in the league which could lead to fatigue, they still have cup commitments and take a look at their run in-

10/04 Worthing V Walton & Hersham

12/04 Lewes V Worthing

17/04 Worthing V Leatherhead

20/04 Worthing V Lewes

24/04 Hampton & Richmond V Worthing

27/04 Slough Town V Worthing

01/05 Worthing V Ashford Town (Mx)

Bye Bye Worthing <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Those two games Lewes & Worthing, could be crucial in ours and Staines plight. I think the top two in Windsor and Lewes are sorted, then the next five positions will be Dulwich, Slough, Hampton, Staines & Worthing in any order. I don't think that Leatherhead, Bromley, Walton or Croydon Ath will be able to keep the pace IMO.

Worthing have a big enough squad to be up there though, the only thing that lets them down is their away form. If we can beat them on the 27th April, I would hope, if we're not already, we would be secured of a top six place.

The outcome of course depends which Rebels team turns up for our remaining fixtures, the one who outplayed Bromley, Staines, Lewes et al or the one who never showed up at Walton or Bracknell.

We can play a big part in this so the maximum support for all remaining fixtures is essential, particularly away from home.

Also Hampton & Richmond were playing 8 of the top 10 sides in their last 13 games, but the ones they've played so far they have won. They were my tip to drop out of the top 6.
