The Supporters Club

I am interested in how the Supporters Club have dealt with the assualt in the clubhouse last weekend as I understand that one of those attacked is a member of said Club.

Perhaps a member of the Supporters Club Commitee could post a statement on this message board stating exactly how they are currently dealing with this matter.

This is, after all, an organization whose prinicple job is to protect the interests of its members.

I would like to point out that the Chairman of the supporters club did call me early on the following morning to see how I was. I'm not sure if that was in his SC role or out of concern for a long standing drinking associate.

However, this is a good point.

Where do they stand on this issue?

In the same way that I would not expect the Chairman or the Board of Directors of S.A.C.F.C to comment formally on any and every issue that is raised on these forums, I would not expect the Supporters Club to respond to a "Where do you stand on this issue?" 'type' question raised on here.

If any fan wishes The Supporters Club to raise an issue with the Board, then why not write full details of the matter concerned to that Chairman of The Supporters Club chap and invite his and its attention and assistance?

I would have thought that fans being assaulted by players would warrant somewhat immediate attention from the Supporters Club.

If it's more supporters leaving in their droves that this club wants, then they may just get it, because as I am sitting here now, I am getting closer and closer to ending my support and association with St Albans City too.

One of the problems with the form and nature of message boards is that those making points or asking questions expect an immediate response in the same way that a reply would be given to a point made in a conversation in a bar or wherever. That is particularly the case when feelings are 'running high'.

The Chairman of the Supporters Club is/was away from home at the week-end. My knowledge is limited only to the response from Laz above.

I may have mis-read you both, and if so, I apologise, but I detected a hint of criticism in your messages on this thread. How do you know that the Chairman of the Supporters Club is not currently in discussion with John Gibson concerning this matter? In my view, elements of the incident should not be considered in haste in any event.

My, very friendly, advice is don't be too quick to anger, Zealster. We have had this conversation over other matters in the past, of course. Ask the question, formally and in the right form, of Ian and I have no doubt that you will get an answer.

I was in no way making a personal attack on Ian Rogers, AFF.

Just pointing out that the assualts took place nine days ago now, and there has still been no official word. One of the victims, a member of the SC, was telephoned once. The other, admittedly not a member, has not been called at all.

I would find it surprising if "the Chairman of the Supporters Club is ... currently in discussion with John Gibson concerning this matter", as one of the victims has not been contacted by either of the aforementioned parties, which would surely prevent a detailed investigation taking place.

You may have a big broom, but does anyone have a big enough carpet?

I too am disgusted about the inaction of SACFC about this. Surely the time has come to ban those fans involved for assualting those poor players fists with their heads.

Personally, I blame Harding. <img src="/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />
