Be honest Enfield Town boys

Recommended Posts

Without being egocentric. Is the success of the Essex Senior league the fault of Enfield Town.

1) We send more than 100 people to such places as Southend and Burnham who are usually thirsty. I would suggest that represents around £700-1000 in increased income for the clubs. Not much perhaps but probably around the income for the whole of the rest of the year not counting the ability to charge sponsers that little bit more.

2) We brought in more competition. We are ambitious and that ambition rubs off onto the other clubs. We just do not want to be in this league-how many other clubs were content to trot along before we joined.

3) The increased competition that we have brought to the league has other spin offs. The teams do train harder and better and therefore do well in other cup competitions. Look at Basildon in the Cherry Red. Concorde in the Vase etc. These cup competitions bring further financial reward not to say glory.

As with the old Enfield success has to be maintained and it is not easy but gets harder as the years go by. All I hope is that ETFC are not a "flash in the pan".

It's been a mutually beneficial relationship. The Essex Senior League gave us the chance to play senior football and we in turn have brought publicity, competition and some much-needed funds to the league. I think it would only be right that the league decree that Ilford, Sawbo, Romford & Concord be deducted 10 points for failing to respect ETFC's contribution and allowing us to gain promotion.

I disagree that it should be two from Clarke, Cove or Smith up front. Smith can sit comfortably behind the front two. He has the mobility and vision to play in that role.

The two players we have really missed this season are Negus and Ridout.

I also think we need to give more time for the Cove / Clarke partnership to work. There were signs of it slowly starting to click in the crazy match away to Brentwood. I agree that Cove seems to be frustrated that the ball sometimes doesn't come his way as early as he thinks it should, but Clarke is having to adjust his normal game too. They are the classic big man small man combination and I think they will form a great partnership, given time.

Let's not give up on the season yet. Agreed the league looks beyond us - but that does not preclude us from promotion. Our playing record since establishment speaks volumes - as does the amazing loyalty of a hard core of supporters.

We need to continue to get behind the team and hope a few other results go in our favour. With luck we will finish high enough for the new Level 2 (or is it 3 - I'm losing the plot on the pyramid reorganisation!) to invite us in.

Yes I agree that Lee Smith is excellent in the hole behinbd the front two. I just don't think we've got the time to wait and see if a pairing tht obviously isn't working, will eventually work. This policy could be said to have knocked us out of the title race. As I said, I'd give Danny a go in a wide/free role.

Let's not forget the ever-improving Simon Miller. How about Simon up with the Cat, with Lee lurking behind?

I'm a big fan of Brad Brotherton, especially in midfield, butI don't think I'd ever have described him as mercurial!

bjr, to be considered for promotion it looks like you have finish in the top two. I get the feeling they will only look very seriously at the champions, and I can't therefore see the runners-up going up..

will 10 point deduction be enuff?

Ok then, 20 point deduction for Ilford, Sawbo, Concord.... in fact might as well make it the whole league (except ETFC)! The grounds for this are 'ungentlemanly conduct' in not allowing ETFC to stroll away with the league title.

Whenever you're ready Mr League Chairman.

Is Heale still at Concord? - any chance he'd come over to the Town next season? - looked quite useful.
