Be honest Enfield Town boys

We need to know for next week.

There was a rumour going round you put your reserves out against ASPA?

Have ASPA dramatically improved?

Did you take it seriously?

On the plus side it should give us a better chance of glory, on the down side we miss out on a bumper gate.

On the basis that there are more teams than prizes to be won, even in the ESL, it is inevitable that some teams will end up without the need for investing in an outsize trophy cabinet. It is similarly inevitable that one day that will be whichever team a poster supports.

But for ETFC, whatever the next few weeks brings, there will still be plus points, such as:

A ground there or thereabouts by Ryman grading standards. No mean feat considering last season's off the pitch events, and subsequently down to some exceptional efforts by some exceptional supporters.

Some positive additions to the side, Lee's D & S to start with.

Good efforts in both the FA Cup and Vase, although everybody would like better.

Much to look forward to generally, including a pretty open field for end of season awards, I'd have thought.

I can think of plenty of worse places to be!

Well, most supporters want to drop the wing back system and go to a 442. Personally I like playing with wingbacks, but the problem is we haven't got any players who like playing there, or are particularly suited to it. There is huge debate about the defenders - they are all excellent players but as a whole the defence is not exactly tight.

We also have a lively debate about the forwards, as you see above. There was a lot of discussion about Ian Cooper, a mercurial little player, very skillful, a tad tempermental perhaps but always liley to score or get a pen. He's moved on now, somewhat mysteriously. Billy Cove is a regular and reliable scorer (and occassional goalie) and I don't think there's much controversy about that.

Danny Clarke however is the subject of more deabte. He is a great ETFC hero, top scorer in the league in ur first season, slighlty fewer goals last year but always likely to score. Very fast, but criticised for his single-mindedness. You can't really argue when he's banging the goals in but since his return from Ilford he has scored one goal, against the bottom club. Some still say he'll get it back, given enough time, others say we can't afford to play a striker that doesn't score.

Lee Smith is also pretty much beyond question, strong, skilful, and covers every blade of grass (well, bit of mud) on the pitch.

There doesn't seem much debate about the midfield, strangely. I welcome the return from injury of club skipper John Ridout, and I like Brad B in midfield. Young Danny Francis looks lie a good acquisition, but you could pick any combination of 4 from quite a long list. Perhaps I'd like to see more of a playmaker in the side.

Goalkeeper? No debate here at all!

I doubt if that helps much, but there you go!

VERY GOOD REPLY AND I AGREE WITH WHAT YOU SAY,WELL ALMOST I DO NOT LIKE WING BACKS AND YES THE PLAYERS WE HAVE DO NOT SUIT IT,SO IT HAS TO BE 442.YES GOOD TO GET RIDS BACK AS HE DOES LIKE TO GET THE BALL DOWN AND PASS IT HE CAN ALSO WIN THE BALL ALONG WITH BRAD,THAT LEAVES JASON AND YOUNG WRIGHT TO SUPPLY THE BULLITS FOR THE FRONT TWO
