Harrow 2 V 1 Billericay

Recommended Posts

Frankly Harrow were poor but they were made to look good by a Billericay performance that was among the worst performances this season and as we all know their have been some stinkers. After the good work put in by the players in the last few months it so disappointing to have lost these two big six point games especially when we have had such good results away from home in the last few months. Their was no passion, commitment or fight I think it was actually worse than Braintree for example the ball bounced along the edges of the penalty with Danny Hockton in close attendance he just continued to stand their as though he was off in his own little dream world. I think their keeper made three saves all game all of which I think he fumbled to show how poor he was the lino remarked when someone mentioned moving off his line for the penalty he said "it wont matter he wont touch it anyway" (the penalty was for a handball something Harrow had got away with for most of the game), this was a game we could have so easily won but unfortunately the majority of the team decided to go AWOL. Its easy to blame the ref and lino who were poor today and gave Danny Hockton a red card late on which is possibly the softest red card I have ever seen at any level.

Att: 233

Ref: Rae Ingram ([***!!***])

Weaver

Henty Sappleton Trott Davidson

Bricknell Dormer Tomilson Black

Hockton Baucham

I agree with all that but think it unfair to pick on Danny...The service to the front runners was non existant.

Player of the game for us...well you can pick any three of the subs. All of 'em showed up on the pitch and gave the team a kick up the [****!!****] that was much needed.

Another poor showing in a game that mattered. looking at the table it is now going to be very difficult to avoid automatic "rymanship" next season and i think the players (with the exception of weaver, dormer and the three subs)have insulted the large number of supporters who made the difficult trip to darkest 'Arrow.

It is unfair to single out individuals as they were all equally crap but I also believe that the senior players especially, in what most consider to be a reasonable squad now, have got to shape up or [***!!***] off. If we are going to be playing ryman football next year we only want players who want to play for us, not those who are marking time waiting for something better (you must be joking in some cases).

If you call the official a [***!!***] then you run the risk of being sent off. Whatever the rights and wrongs of the decision or the abilities of the officials who were of course dogsbreath, there can be no excuse for it.

i spose on the plus side next weeks team is likely to be very different with the returns of aziz and taylor. and i would also give all of the subs (stowe, opara, and hunter) a start 'cos at least they looked as if they cared.

signing off: mr angry of ricay, cold, pissed off, almost lost on numerous occasions, and poisoned by the dogburger. (but i least i give a toss)

I don't understand how the same players that put in a stirling effort in Jan/Feb to pull us off the bottom and into contention for a play-off place can blow up so spectacularly when we got to within touching distance of 5th bottom! Yesterday was pretty dismal to put it mildly, we struggled to create anything of note against a defence that didn't look anything remarkable, and a keeper who spilled what little he had to do. We won very little ball in centre mid, making it imperative that Davidson is returned to that position as soon as possible, the front 2 looked like they had been nailed to the deck and showed very litle movement.

On a positive note, I thought the new guy at the back had a decent enough debut, we need for him and Pat to form a unit at the back, unfortunatley this will take time which we havn't got.

Following on from the disappointment of the Braintree game went to Harrow with high hopes that the passion and team spirit which had moved us of the bottom of the table during Jan / Feb would return.

How wrong can one be another poor show from the Blues letting themselves down the supporters and the Management team.

We have the players who can get us out of trouble and they need to beleive in themselves again but it does not help when we have several players playing out of position.

The day was summed up by the quality of the food from the Burger Bar which gets a rating of 1 out of 10.

Must not also forget once again the poor officials especially the linesman in the second half. When questionned about a foul mid way through the half stated it is not my job to give fouls just offsides.

So we new it was curtains for Hockton when in my eyes should of got a free kick in the last few minutes but the linesman gave it the other way but earlier he said he did not give fouls. We all know what happenned next and I understand Danny's frustration but what he said left the referee with no choice.

Come on Blues let's all pull together and show the passion and belief we did in Jan / Feb to bring all 3 points againsts Stortford next Saturday.

Picking up on Simon's point has anyone else noticed the number of different partnerships we have had the last few weeks at centre back and also the front two. OK you cannot do anything about injuries but how can the team work as a team if the do not know how the player they link up with the most plays?

We need some stability, pick our best team (if we know what this is!)and stick with it, with only minor changes when necessary.

If you look at the post prior to the Harrow game when everyone was selecting their favoured starting eleven no-one was right (OK we did not know about the new defender). The teams that perform best are those with a settled side.

Against a poor side Billericay were terrible yesterday Midfield created nothing all day and we deserved what we got nothing.

Thanks Mr.Turner and his friend if that was you for showing the way to Harrow other wise we would of prob got lost. Meare wanted to get off at Euston (i think and he wanted to go off on a hour walk to a diff station). The match was poor with harldy any shoots but when the ball did get in the area we couldn't use it. Must agree with you Mr.Turner them burgers were rubbish.

Is Trott the ex-grays defender or a reserve team player?

Yes to both <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

He played a lot of conference football for Stevenage, then was moved on when Graham Westley took over last season. Went to Grays (on loan I believe) for the final months of last season. Started this season at Gravesend, but got injured and was released. Played for our reserves the other week, against Thurrock, to get fitness.

On the question of centre backs, by my reckoning the following have played there for us this season:

Penn
Scarborough
Reddington
Edinburgh
Dormer
Thomas
Polston
Graham
Sappleton
Mendy
Davidson
Trott

Which is a lot. If Trott and Sappleton can form a partnership in the centre of defence, with Davidson playing in front of them, in a midfield holding role, then I reckon that's a solid looking line-up.

Don't understand what's wrong with playing Reddington and Sappleton at the back. Instead we play players out of position to cover there, which has a knock-on effect on the rest of the side. Then we bring in a centre-half who has just recovered from a lengthy lay-off, whilst we do the same up-front. Management and supporters will always see things differently, but yesterday the two leading players for the supporters player of the month were both bizarrely dropped to the bench. The only time in the game we looked remotely threatening was the triple substitution of Hunter, KK and Stowe which by my reckoning was 75 minutes too bleeding late, go figure.

the most annoying thing is that all the hard work we put in to getting us off the bottom has been wiped out in the last 2 games. I think poor team selection was to blame for both these games. we now have another up-hill task in fromt of us. This club needs to be in the new confrence, maybe that fact could be drilled home to the players some how.

Indeed it is...Even more if you add that Taylor and Brickell have been pressed into service there during games as well. I reckon justin must have caught Redders wearing some Arsenal underpants or summin..all very strange
