Reserves Quarter Final

Recommended Posts

Rob

Cant seem to reply to your post so heres another one.

Played Braintree twice in the league, won 1-0 away, drew 0-0 at home so a tight game is anticipated.

Can we expect to see a few familiar faces on Saturday ? I hope so, a decent crowd would be appreciated. After last weeks disappointment of loosing in the semi final lets hope we can get the boys back on track for this one.

If we get through we are at home in the semi v Leyton. Winner of that game stages the final.

After all the cr*p thats been around this week a bit of a lift is needed <img src="/images/graemlins/chloenurse.gif" alt="" />

Over to you .........

Rob, I could not reply to you either, keeps going back to home screen.

Anyway will you or Caretaker do a Match Report.

Our Reserve players are doing well this season and are still in 3 Cup Competitions.

Follow up tomorrows Qu-Final (FBT). Next Saturday with a Home game V Gt.Wakering Rovers in the Combination Cup S/Final. We are also still in the Tolleshunt Darcy Cup. I do not know who we have in the next round.

Gutted that both this Quarter and next weeks Semi are both Saturday games i was really hoping they would be mid week. (As 1st home to Northwood and away to Purfrock respectively)

I have seen 3 mid week League games lately for the Ressies the latest being a 4.0 stuffing of Waltham Abbey a Creditable 1.0 win over Canvey Island and a 4.0 beating away at Heybridge.

Good luck Aubrey and the boys.

CRUNCH, CRUNCH, CRUNCH.

OK here goes...

The Saints started positively and looked 'up' for this one after the disappointment of last week. After 10 minutes of pressure Matt Jones picked up a loose ball in midfield, avoided a couple of tackles and smashed the ball high into the braintree net from 20 yeards out; surely a contender for goal of the season. Braintree had a good chance to equalise but shot wide when well-placed. Saints went further ahead after 22 minutes when Scott Atkinson crossed from the right and Matt Jones beat the defenders to the ball to head powerfully into the net from close range. Braintree came back into the game after this and produced some good attacking moves of their own but did not really trouble the Saints keeper. Two minutes before half time however, a Braintree corner from the right was sliced up in the air by a Saints defender and the Braintree forward (sorry don't know his name) had the simplest of tasks to plant the ball into the net.

The second half was fairly even to start with. Cogger missed a golden chance for the Saints and Atkinson 'scored' but was flaggged offside. Braintree also pushed forward but were guilty of wasteful passing and got caught offside numerous times. Saints brought on Collins for the last 20 and he caused a few problems and eventually the pressure told in the last minute. A harmless looking through ball was fumbled by a Braintree defender and Atkinson rounded the keeper and slotted home.

Saints: Perks, Attwood, Parratt, Riley, Parsons, J Smith, A Smith ©, Coughlan, Cogger, Atkinson, Jones. Subs: Collins, Reid, Gibb, Anderson, Taylor.

Tree: Morden, Sutton, Durham, Knight, Watkins, Marshal, Deuti, Allbone, Lincoln, Baker, Elliot. Subs: Altwill, Broadbridge, Hoisden, Mcleod.
