The Park (Home of the Rebels)

Interesting article in the Slough Express.Imagine you own a football ground that used to host football throughout the season. Then all of a sudden that football team goes and plays at another ground. When that team was at home you used to get people in the bar and maybe before the match people who hit a few balls on the driving range. Now you have none of this. Maybe there is something going on in the background with regard to land and future developments that may be of interest to owners of a football ground. Or even of interest to present owners of a football club. But having to deal with two councils can only make things more complicated as we all know that the only time councils become involved is when there are elections on the horizon and votes are required. The plot of land in Britwell for our new ground seems to have gone quiet all of a sudden maybe because elections are on the way. But the big question is what is going on at The Park if they are spending money on keeping the pitch up to playing standard. As usual the people who matter the most that is the supporters of STFC are the last to know what is going on. What would be really nice is for perhaps some honest answers to some honest questions from the supporters of STFC to all parties concerned in our future. So the ball is now in your court Slough Council - Mr Deaner - Mr Thorne. What is going on?

Some very interesting questions, Anon, but as usual there will be absolutely zilch as far as answers go. Nobody who knows anything will ever say, the Council(s), The Owners of the Ground, The Owner of the Club (The authorities have enough trouble getting FRUS statutory returns completed and whatever happened to the meeting we were promised at the end of last season?)And even the Trust don't seem to have anything to add, although they have not elected the Directors yet (two weeks I believe?)

So I would bet that if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it probably IS A DUCK - i.e. if there seems to be nothing going on at the The Park or Kennedy Pie in the Sky Park,(NINE months and still no Feasibility Study?), there probably IS NOTHING GOING ON! And heaven help us if we get a top six finish and then find that our ground and financial situation doesn't meet the new league standards!

Go on, those in the know - prove me wrong - PLEASE! But, anyone taking bets?

I believe, and I stand to be corrected, that it is STFC that is both taking the decision and paying the money to maintain the pitch at The Park.

Whether that's because someone knows something or just a case of blind hope, I'm not sure.

Chris, the way is open for many people, but not many actually have the time. Andrew is merely stating the facts of what the situation is and to be honest, makes a number of valid points in many of his posts with a number of his questions appropriate to our plight and yet never answered.

As Andrew says, just what information exactly has come out of the club in the past few months? Absolutely nothing. Shouldn't we, as existing supporters association members (and holding committee for the trust board until elections) be trying to get this information on behalf of our members?
