Female boxing is going to be allowed into the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, apparently.

I suppose it is no different to the Brits competing in Darts World Championships and Snooker World Championships, which are always hosted here and mainly made up of the UK, with a few exceptions,Barney Rubble (Barnerveld) winning the Darts from Holland now and again, in the Snooker you have Malta's Drago & to get a champion you have to go back to Snookers Canadian Wurbinick.

 

Maybe the Uk should enter Darts and Snooker in the Olympics, might get a gold.

Well it's congratulations to the GB men's hockey team who have qualified the hard way with a play-off win over Belgium 2-1. Some good news for a change. Well done chaps!

I must say, we only ever watch hockey every four years but when it is on it's a bloody good spectator sport.

Only ever watched Hockey on TV, but if you want entertainment (Not at the Summer Olympics) but Ice Hockey with a puck and a fight.

 

Slamming opponents into the walls, pushing them into the net. Good laugh, not an expert but gone and watched Chelmsford Chieftans a few times.

I used to follow Romford Raiders a lot, about 10 years ago...before they had some "financial irregularities" within the club and temporarily disbanded.

Watching ice-hockey live is brilliant - and no one will ever get a sense of the game by watching it on tv.

If you did, [again about 10 years back] do you remember the daft mentalist behind the dj booth who had that completely bizarre monkey on a stick?

Whenever there was a goal, face-off, fight etc..he used to get up and make the monkey do a dance...and this bloke really thought he was the prime entertainment at the match.

No Mal never been there.

I really think Chelmsford Chieftans should change their puck off times, 6pm on a Sunday, it means time it is finished and back in Braintee it is nearly 10pm, and everyone has work next day.

Why dont they play earlier or alot later on a Saturday after all the football is finished. Least people dont have to go to work.

That is the end of my whinge.

Fair comment Mark...

 

I keep meaning to take my daughter over to see Romford Raiders [or, Romford Shoplifters as I always preferred to call them] now that they are up and running again.

 

Trouble is, the ice-rink is a complete toilet - vending machines frequently broke and you lose your money - the bar is hardly ever open - the toilets are disgusting - and the seating area in general needs a bit of detergent!

 

Some people don't realise they are sitting on a potential goldmine. Clean up the rink, change the name to include Havering in it, and they'll begin attracting a larger support than ever!

 

Ice Hockey is a great spectator sport...and not a lot of people know that Great Britain used to be World Champions and Olympic Gold Medal holders once, too!!
