....this time by thier own players!!!!

Derek Brown and Rob Smith - Both these players were involved in a violent attack in the club bar on Saturday after the game.

Here's my account of events...

I was told that Derek Brown had sent a threatening email to Thornsey regarding statements made on here during the week.

In the bar after the game, Derek Brown came in and instantly launched at a torrent of foul language at Thornsey. He then walk off but you could tell there was an atmosphere.

I left at the same time as Thonsey and Tom Fenton.

As I was leaving Derek Brown rushed past me after Thornsey. I was then grabbed from behind, pulled down and punched in the face about three times by Rob Smith. Outside, I am told Brown attacked Tom Fenton.

John Gibson entered the clubhouse as Rob Smith was being held back by Peter Lewis.

Outside, I met with Steve Castle, Migs and John Gibson. John assumed the problem was the fault of Thornsey and Tom.

I asked him what he intended to do about the assult on me. He said he speak to me this coming week.

I offered to shake hands with Rob Smith, who after all and injuries aside, has been a loyal player at the club. This was refused.

I later spoke to Peter Lewis by phone and offered to drop the matter if John would call me to discuss. This didn't happen.

I've reported the matter to the Police. They will take my statement later today. They've told me to report the incident to the club which I have done. They tell me the incident will be reported to the FA.

On reflection, I don't think either player should have a future at this club. The attempted attack on Thornsey may have been provoked but not justified. The attack on myself and Tom was outrageous.

If you are reading this John, I expect to hear from you soon.

Can't help but laugh can ya!!!!!!!

Here's more from the local rag:

BAD blood between players and fans at struggling St Albans City Football Club spilled over into violence on Saturday when a brawl broke out in the club bar.

The incident has left chairman John Gibson "extremely frustrated" and re-considering his position.

Two conflicting versions of what took place after the Saints' league game against Hornchurch have emerged. One city supporter, who asked not to be named, has claimed he was punched in the face three times by a player while Mr Gibson described the incident as "handbags at 50 paces".

Enmity between players and the Saints' unofficial supporters' group

England's First Martyr (EFM) fans had been stoked recently by two incidents.

The first took place at an away match against Canvey Island where it was alleged that racist comments were levelled at Saints striker Miguel De Souza, something strenuously denied by EFM.

The second happened when a fan posting on an Internet message board blasted one of the Saints players, describing him as "toilet".

After Saturday's game that player approached the fan in the bar and a heated discussion took place.

The fan claimed the player swore at him and offered to fight him.

Later, that fan together with the one claiming to have been assaulted as well as one other, got up to leave the bar and became embroiled in a struggle by the exit with two players, including the one involved in the argument.

The alleged victim said he was struck three times by a player before club officials moved in and separated the two factions. The fans left the ground and later decided that action needed to be taken against the player.

The fan filed charges with the police on Saturday evening and then received a call from Mr Gibson on Sunday morning who said that the player would be sacked.

The player then personally called the supporter to apologise and he agreed to drop the charges. He says that Mr Gibson then called him again to say that the player would not be sacked after all so the fan suggested that he at least be fined a week's wages.

But speaking on Tuesday the chairman said the matter was closed as far as he was concerned.

He said: "The player involved has apologised and that apology has been accepted; it's all got out of proportion."

Mr Gibson blamed the incident on members of EFM and alleged that the fan who argued with the player and one other left the bar with bottles in their back pockets at the same time as the player was preparing to leave.

He went on: "This was deemed to be a hostile act on their part and the player was seen to be in danger so other players went to help and a fracas ensued.

"One fan was inadvertently involved in the scuffle but he has been

apologised to and the matter is closed as far as I am concerned."

But the fan is unhappy that the player appears to have escaped punishment by the club.

He said: "If an employee of a company attacks his own customers I think he would probably expect to get sacked."

A spokesman for the police said the incident was still being investigated but added that if the victim decides not to press charges there is little they can do.

The Saints have struggled this season. After last year's fourth place finish they are currently lying fourth from bottom and struggling to secure a top-13 finish which would ensure their admission into a new Conference South league.

If you view the Saints site, with the heading Observer Article, it shows the offending comments by Thornsey, and a full acc of what happened.

Any player Physically attacking a supporter...

Or vice versa for that matter should be imediatly banned from the club.

What is Gibson fking around for?... its a no brainer.

Ryan, I'm sure you know we're not the kind of guys to go out to bottle our players, so I think you should read half of this report with a view that it may be total b****ks. My half though is accurate.

Our Chairman is simply trying to brush this under the carpet. It's a bl**dy discrace.

The simple rule is: if you punch a paying customer, you get sacked.
