We looked good for 20 mins, although I always worried about our defenders being outpaced to them long balls.

 

Ilford getting the advantage before half time meant they could really shut up shop 2nd half. The 2nd half was a non event, and credit to Ilford their game plan worked a treat. However I reckon we were still about 5 mins short in injury time, considering there were about 4 sizeable breaks for alleged injuries. The ref taking days to short out a little spat in front of the dugouts, and Ilford doin what we would have probably done ourselves if we were winning, take an age over every deadball situation.

 

Our bit a gamesmanship in the nicking Ilford's end while they went off to change shirts (why didn't the ref sort this out in the changing rooms before hand)was certainly trumped by Ilford's approach in the 2nd half. Just how many people did Ilford have on their bench.

 

Sorry Im not whinging, all is fair in the battle for the title, and Ilford today did remind me of a typical ESL title challenger in their approach. We were all made very welcome at Cricklefield and well done to Ilford for sticking in there and taking the three points. I think on the day we were just a bit too nice.

Morning all.....

Agree with you Boroman on most of your points....

Although We did have much the better chances....

Actually on chances alone we should have won 4 or 5-1 although this would have been slightly unfair...

We were the better team on the day....After Romford scored they were the better side but to our credit we dug in and and showed great character.

Eexcellent display by the back three and by Ronnie up front.

A MASSIVE three points.......and in the last month we have now beaten Concord,Sawbo & Romford and drew with ETFC.

I think we have now shown that we do have the strength,talent and character to be in the final mix....
