Getting a little concerned about this. In the last few games we have been overrun a little - Dulwich in the first half and Walton on Tuesday and today of course. Veli has only shown glimpses of what he's capable of thus far and Wilko is going to struggle to play Tuesday and Saturday to his full potential. Haddow had a mare when he came on today and is no centre midfielder to me defo a left winger. Don't see Freddie or Spence as the answer either so I think we miss that midfielder to boss our central areas anyone agree?

 

As for today's match - i'm not going to get too involved as it was just a blip I feel, but some of the stick Boot got was shameful I feel. Look i'm not his greatest fan, but it's not his style to hussle and harry and he could have easily walked out on us earlier in the season. Also look what he did for us last season - some people have short memories...

We struggle against teams that show 100% commitment. Boot will never do that, had a poor game today (and moaned constantly0, but still scored twice. I can happily accept Boot as he is, moaning apart, but too many other players don't show commitment either. We are a good footballing team once we get ahead, but if we go behind we don't battle well.

The midfield is a problem I don't understand why wilko went off he did not want to. We lack bite and lack someone to put there foot on the ball.

 

I don't have a short memory, yeah Boot got 30 odd goals last season but he was also arrogant, lazy and constantly offside. He thinks he is too good for us and too good for this level. He will not get picked up by a bigger club unless he improves his work rate.

Agree with Ted though still have him in the side but in a day like today despite his goals he should have been substituted to give him the kick up the backside he needs.

I was in the stand above the Slough Bench and I think you can take it that Wilko could not understand why he had been pulled off either, judging the way his views were expressed - very forcefully.

 

What a disappointing display, I understand the comments that people have bad days, but some of the problems were just a lack of prefessionalism - with some lackadaisical defending and Boot's penalty was casual in the extreme.

 

Most of the Bracknell fans around us reckoned that was the turning point in the game, and I have to agree - had it gone in, we would have had our confidence boosted - after that hardly a thing went right.

The poitn I couldn't understand after the substitution was why Denton left three out of four midfielders not in their normal positions when he could have easily got all four in their proper roles; ie. Williams is a centre midfielder who played right, Haddow is a left midfielder who played centre and Harris is a right midfielder who played left, leaving Hakki as the only one in his favoured position. He could have easily sorted the midfield so that all four were in their right positions.

Quite right we have no right to be in a better league but improvement is not going to be made by simply keeping the faith.
