Slough 1-1 Walton

Murphy should have been sent off for the Hand ball which resulted in the Penalty, and Wilkinson was lucky to stay on the pitch after his dreadful mistimed and balled up chalengs mid way through the second half.

Harris and Riddel were super tonight and Daly his brilliant usual self.

Good point, but lucky to get it

Just one point about Boot which I think has only ever been made on here once before by Paul S who stands on the side about 25 yards out. Boot makes a number of very intelligent runs which are continually not spotted by the midfield until he either is checking his run (i.e. perfectly in line with the defence) or the ball is played too late and Boot is caught offside. So yes he does get caught offside a number of times, but if he was given the ball early, as Veli did to release him for the one on one he missed, he will get the chances. It seems only Veli has the vision to play the intricate through ball to release him early enough.

I think along with Hakki there's probably one other player in our squad with good enough 'vision' to play those passes. <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Methinks we expecteth too much...

Let's face it, Rebels fans are not used to seeing their beloved team winning two games on the trot, let alone six or seven, so it's a bit unfair on the players to get all mopey about not winning this one.

By the sound of it, Walton did a good job of cancelling out our style of play. Eddie and co need to watch out for this in future, as we could slip up again with some more of the "really ought to win these" games.

However, it could have been worse. We could have lost, or we could have seen our form slip against a real top-six contender, like Dulwich.

Hopefully the guys will be on form again on Saturday.

Come on you Rebels!

Thanks for the mention Gary!! I think Boot was offside less than 1 time in 5 that the linesman gave him. That was the worst official I have seen for a long long time, and to swap him at half time added insult to injury. The ref was as bad. He failed to book the player who hoofed the ball out of the stadium after the whisle had gone, then failed to book him again when he did it later.

My view was

Their penalty couldnt see too well but didnt look like a penalty to me. If it was then murphy should have gone.

Out penalties (I counted 4) Clear barge by Abbott ignored by Mr. "I'll wave my flag with a flourish then people will think I know what I'm doing."

Goalkeeper tackle on wilko clear penalty - possible booking for tackle from behind. He quite clearly tookl wilko out of the game inside the box.

Hodge booking - he played the ball after the whistle had gone didnt, think it was a booking but I guess the ref thinks 1 - 1 is what we wanted to settle for!!

There is however one point I would like to make and that both Hodge and Boot would score more goals if they stopped bickering and played for the team.

Thought we were lucky to get a point overall last night... we didn't create much, it has to be said, although we had a couple of cast-iron penalties turned down. Walton had a couple of what looked like guilt-edged chances. At the end of the day though a 1-1 with the likes of Walton is nothing to be concerned about. If it was Epsom, then yes I'd be worried. Hodge was fairly anonymous and Boot disappointingly offside on too many occasions (although I do agree with what's been said above, it's not entirely his fault). He does need to improve his timing a bit though.

We've done better than expected against the likes of Lewes, Dulwich and Staines so let's just hope for a better performance than last night because we KNOW they can do it. C'mon Rebels.

Is that a subtle dig at our landlords? <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Poor performance by us really, but we still got something from the game which showed real grit. Much happier for having the point than losing the game completely. Thought they defended well but were really a kik and rush team, who hassle endlessly and destroy football games. Don't know about anyone else, but I definitely couldn't stand watching a team like that everyweek!!

Don't know about all this negativity - we're STILL on an excellent unbeaten run and long may it continue.

PS. Just as an afterthought I think Murphy hs been superb since joining the club he reads the game brilliantly and cuts out danger before it develops. In truth he could be playing at a higher level and alongside Daly's powerful heartfelt performances I think they make a great pairing at the back.

Interesting to note how much improved Daly has become throughout the course of the season. When things weren't going so well earlier in the season people were on about him retiring and getting out of the side, but fair play to him, he's really turned it around as has Eddie.

I wasn't convinced by Murphy earlier in the season, but his distribution appears to be a lot more accurate now so fair play to all three.

I know you don't like to criticise referees and I know that some people believe that the referee can never be wrong but the problem is inconsistency.

I thought Walton wasted time consistently last night and on at least three occasion one of their players kicked the ball post whistle and I yelled book him. No card. Hodge kicks the ball away and john Tebbitt (who is never wrong says it wasn't even out) and gets booked.

The ref missed a lot because he wasn't up with play. I don't blame the lino for not giving our handball he was at least twice as far away as the ref.

He gave a pen for delibrate handball denying a clear goal and only booked Murphy. Obviously, I didn't want him sent off but following the laws of the game he should have gone.

And to top it all he played no injury time. There were constant delays and remember he booked a player for kicking the ball away. There should have been more added time and to be honest it should be walton who are upset about that as they looked the more likely winners.

I am not criticising the ref for being biased just crap. He spoilt what was otherwise an entertaining and for me stressful 90 minutes.

Anyway, I don't really just want to moan about referees... <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Defentaly two points lost, ref was pathetic and I want to see better at Bracknell. On the current form we are on and judgeing by their league position, we should have been wipeing the florr with them.

Ref was an absolute disgrace. Couldn't have got any worse if he tried.

Hopefully that was just a minor slip-up in what will hopefully be another good run of form. I say the word hopefully so as not to tempt fate.

Having now watched this again on a video clip courtesey of Emma, I'm swayed more to the keepers side of things. Will try and extract the 3 or 4 seconds into a small clip to download so people can see for themselves.
