Slough 1-1 Walton

Sloughs winning run came to an end. Harris equaliser after they took the lead through a penalty after Murphy handballed (?? Couldn't see) in the box.

I would say they had the better of the match and battled hard, played direct and gave Slough little time to play the football we've seen in the past six wins. I'd definitely say a point earned.

Yep defo a point well earned. Fairly decent match despite the lack of chances with them only having the penalty and use Harris' goal and Boot's shot saved.

As Eddie said last week I think were not always going to play well, but it's important that if we are not we battle hard and that's what we did tonight against a Walton side that I think could make top six.

Abbott still looks like he could play at this level and opposition teams are not going to have the excellent Steve Daly in their side each week. So they might sneak in and take points off the other top six sides.

Good point!

Other point of note was the clear push on Daly in the first half by Abbott. Never seen anything as blatant.

Something else which annoyed me about the ref was booking Hodgey for dissent for kicking the ball away, yet on the four instances (probably more) it was done by Walton players, he did nothing.

Let's see how we bounce back on Saturday at Bracknell.

When we did get the ball down and play we did look dangerous, but far too often we ran out of ideas too quickly and either a player did too much and got caught or played long which was swallowed up by their back line.

Safe to say I could not see whether theirs was a pen. But the useless oaf in black missed the blatant push on Daly. I did not see the keepers challenge on Wilko (was that a pen?) and our front two seemed convinced their was a hand ball in the area in the first half but the useless twat was yards away and after a longing look at the lino decided to give nothing. It is not just ineptitude that annoys me but the fact the bloke was not fit enough to keep up with play and therefore could not give fair decisions on our appeals. Yet he was right there when they went shouting.

To be fair they probably edged the game and we never got going in the first half, I don't think we had a kick in the first 15.

To me it feels more like a defeat than a draw. I just hope it does not stop our momentum dead. Come on rebels let's get back to winning ways Saturday.

It would have been harsh, but equally, Wilko knocked the ball away from the keeper as he went through the back of him. Couldn't honestly tell though if it was the keepers hands or Wilkos feet which made contact with the ball.

Thought Wilko was MOTM tonight. Full of running, seemed to be popping up in and around their box a lot more tonight as well.

Certainly looked like a penalty from where I was standing and we were lucky not to go down to 10 men cos the ball was going in. We were caught offside too many times, although 2 or 3 of these were awful decisions by the lino. There were quite a few half chances towards the end of the first half but we didn't seem to get the second ball. A fair result in the end but feels like 2 points gone begging, especially with some of the other results.

I know it's easy to say in hindsight but if we'd been offered 19 points from the seven games we've just had, we would have bitten someone's hand off.

Stay positive, despite having to contend with incompetent fools like Mr Young.

The atmosphere did seem very flat tonight. I think Ian's comment in the final sentence there has hit the nail on the head. Despite looking at it as two points dropped, we still got a draw despite not playing well (or perhaps not being allowed to play well - all credit to Walton) and fought our way back into the match as we have been seen to have done many times before. Many of the top six still have to play one another and as a result, will be dropping points against one another meaning we can still bolster our position through other results.

Let's get behind the team even when they are not doing so well like tonight and see if we can give them a lift rather than them having to do something to make us get behind them.

Ah whilst I agree we would have jumped at 19 points from the last seven we should have won tonight. From the last seven I would have expected to beat Horsham, Tooting and Walton and would have taken a single point from Bromley, Staines, Lewes and Dulwich. For me that would have been best case scenario. Ok so we have done better than that and I should be happy. But I wanted to win, I wanted revenge for the game at their place where we were just dreadful. The problem is that despite an excellent run it is all still very tight and we are far from secure in the top six. We can't afford to drop "home" points.

Having said all that we did not lose and I should probably quit my mithering. Let's hope Eddie can get the boys back to winning ways come Saturday.

Completely disagree about Wilko today Gary, did not think he was at his best. I thought willo or daly wouuld have got the nod for motm.

Couldn't make tonight because of work, but not too unhappy with the draw as I've had a bad feeling about the match all day. Convinced we would lose, partly because of Abbo returning, partly because I've been too dam optimistic since Saturday and that's usually when it starts going pants shaped.

At least there's some battle in the team. Earlier in the year you would not fancy us to come back from a goal down. I'm staying sensibly optimistic for the rest of the season.

Great Game with a fair result...really...a great game to watch if you had been a neutral....

The Ref, I am sorry to say missed lots of things and if John Tebbitt said that when Hodge got booked for kicking the ball away, was in fact still in play I believe him !!! so why was hodge booked !!!!

Bloody Walton ...did their homework on us ! and continually slow the game down when Slough were on the up ! and why oh why did the ref let them get away with so many of these antic's !

Anyhow keep faith everyone , we have got a great team and they will battle to the end !!

Up the Rebels.......

Thought Walton were a good side and a draw a fair result - as usual lots of moaning about the officals with our Slough tinted spectacles, and not too impressed with people shouting by the changing rooms at the end of the game. As a couple of Walton fans walking past commented 'they must have been watching a different game to us.'

ps cheers to staines rebel for lift to staines - still got home at bloody 12 o clock.

No problem Brighton Rebel

I am supprised that no one has yet has commented on the number of times Boot was caught off side,

It was not the officals being over keen or the "skill" of Waltons defense - Boot needs to watch the line, as he has the pace to out run most defences.

As others have mentioned, we almost expect a win every game, but 19 out of 21 is just what we wanted after Xmas.

Everyone i talked to seemed to have a bad feeling before the match and i think we were lucky not to loose considering all the potential goal scoring chances they had like the goal line clearance in the first minute. But considering they were unbeaten in their last 7 matches i think it's a great result against an in-form team, it could of gone either way!

The ball didn't leave our half in the first ten minutes of the match. Our recent form has been built upon striking early (Staines, Dulwich) and building from that. In our run of victories we hadn't been behind at any stage - from that perspective it was pleasing that we didn't surrender and fought back to claim a point. But the players have set themselves high standards with their recent performances, and last night I don't think there was anybody on the pitch who was able to repeat that standard.

Great goal though Chopper, who on earth would have thought you'd score with two headers in successive matches!

Can't complain about the result it was just about a fair reflection. Too many players were having an off day. MOTM for me was Harris. Worked hard to try and create chances and made less mistakes than everyone else. Well done to Walton for doing their homework. They realised Hodge was the main threat and put their biggest defender on him. Hodge had his worst game for ages. How many headers did he win?

As I said to start with too many players had an off day but lets hope we aren't becoming too reliant on Hodge.

Boot knows when to make the run and how to stay onside. The type of player he is will always get caught offside often but Walton again realised this and played the offside trap well.

All in all a point gained and as everyone else has said 19 points from 21 is good going.

Lets look forward to a better all round performance on saturday.
