Religious Question ?

[color:"blue"] I see on tonights Southern BBC News that there's to be some sort of vote tonight by the School Governers of a school in Luton regarding lifting the banning of the wearing of religious headscarves by some 'ethnic' girls within the school ! It is said to be in breach of school regulations in relation to school uniform.

 

Apparently, they are worried that if they uphold the ban, they could be in breach of The Race Relations Act !

 

If they do, I trust every child with Scottish parentage who attends that school will report for class tomorrow wearing regulation clan kilt and tartan socks.

It's actually illegal for a Scotsman to wear a kilt. It's one of those old laws that was never gotten rid of, like it's still illegal in this country to play football on a Sunday

Before I join in on this debate can I just ask Big JR if this is a "serious" debate or a "light hearted" one???

I don't think this law would stand up in the European Court if anyone were prosecuted under it. So, although it may be a law on paper, it is effectively not a law, and therefore this is not illegal.

Some of you have missed the point !

 

The school Governers reversed the rule to allow the wearing of religious headscarves, because they were frightened of being sued under the RACE RELATIONS ACT !

Well done the French for considering the banning of religious apparal from schools!

Apparently a 1000 or so jerk-offs marched in Paris to complain...so obviously there's not much disagreement with the idea.

 

One day, just one day, we might be able to get rid of this superstitious clap trap that has enslaved people [and their minds] for centuries.

 

Mind you...the Jedi are a recognised religion nowadays. Can they take light sabres into school too?

Let's just hope the don't try and ban the wearing of turbans in schools..I don't think the Indian population would be very happy about that.
