Tend to agree with Nigel D. Whilst the Aldershot hooligan thing is a little exaggerated there is no denying there is a hooligan problem at Aldershot.

 

I'm not saying Aldershot fans are 'thugs'. Most who came on to our forum at various points last season were genuine, intelligent fans but there is a minority that cause trouble year after year.

 

At Park Lane last year for the Championship decider there were reports of 'Shots' fans throwing bottles out of the coach window on the A130.

 

After their goal, several Shots fans invaded the pitch and tried to goad the Canvey fans. beer cans, bottles were thrown into the Canvey end and the police took forever to do anything! Scary and downright disgraceful scenes!

 

There are legendary stories about Aldershot taking several hundred fans to little Ryman Division 2/3 grounds in their early days as a non league club and trashing the ground.

 

As ricay fans would tell you there is a history of trouble at Shots/ricay games.

 

As I said this is a minority. About 20/30 idiots amongst 3500 fans.

 

Don't want to scare you but I do fear the worse.

Agree with YELLOW-ARMY-2003, most the aldershot faithful are genuine football fans. But there is a minority that DO cause trouble and being a ricay fan I no all about this!!

But if there is no trouble there will be an eletric atmosphere at both games!!

The Aldershot games were always the most exciting of the season as it was a guaranteed 1000 plus crowd and a great atmosphere to boot.

 

Apart from last season we never had any trouble with Aldershot but it seems the hooligan element only comes out for the big games and thats what bothers me.
