Bubb gets World Cup chance

 

Aylesbury United striker Byron Bubb has been named in Grenada's 20-strong squad to play Guyana over two legs in a World Cup qualifier. Grenada will have home advantage in the first leg with the return being staged in Guyana on March 13. 'It's just exciting being involved playing for your country and it will be a great experience," Bubb told the Bucks Herald. He joined the Ducks last month after a spell out of the game with injury. The 22 year old has some footballing pedigree as he was picked for the England Under 17 squad as a teenager, although he did not play. He was also a YTS apprentice with Millwall and played around 12 games for the first team. He desperately wants to get back in professional football, and he hopes the World Cup qualifiers will showcase his skills for watching scouts. He said: "Hopefully, some people will see me play for Grenada, some professional clubs might become interested and I can get back into pro football."

Yes Byron is a fully fledged World Cup international. Played the full match in Grenada's 5-0 win over Guyana yesterday.
