Canvey 4 0 Maidenhead

What a great game and a brilliant day. On the pitch Canvey turned on the style as what looked a tough game proved to be a stroll in the park.

 

Lee Boylan scored a penalty after a few minutes as a Maidenhead defender was sent off for a handball. Jeff Minton then scored a sublime effort picking the ball up on the edge of the box and curling it into the top corner despite the keeper getting a hand to the ball.

 

A superb move saw the ball played on to Duffers coming in from the left and he steered the ball expertly beyond the keeper for 3-0.

 

In the second half, the game went a little flat as Canvey went through the motions. Greggors volleyed over and then had a shot blocked and sub Ollie Berquez headed over a virtual open goal.

 

Gav Cowan completed the scoring in stoppage time tapping home from close range.

 

What a brilliant performance. Mints was superb, Greggors awesome and Duffers and Midgley worked hard down the flanks.

 

A quick mention to the couple of Maidenhead supporters I was talking to before the game. Great blokes who were really complimentary about Canvey. Good luck for the rest of the season.

 

Maladroit, great to meet you at last mate and have a beer with you in the bar after the game. Hopefully see you in the next round.
