Pop ups.

How the feck do I get it so I don't get these nuisance pop ups, I will leave my machine for 2 mins to make a drink get back and have to close 10-15 down each time, asking if I want sexy chat, am I happy with my pen1s size and generally covering my screen.

 

If anyone knows how to get these to stop I will be forever in their debt.

download a programme called Spy Bot (easy to find on google) - that tends to stop most of them

Install the Google toolbar- it's free and you won't get any ever again. You can find it under Tools & Services on the Google home page.

...and steer clear of the Hednesford site. I lost count how many times it told me "Congratulations, you are the 1000th visitor" etc etc..

Thanks for the tips boys, I will do it tongiht, my work machine get no pop ups, it is just my home one, even when I am reading something from one of you guys on this forum.

Seriously though, Mark, there are loads of zappers available for nought ! I run with two and don't get any pop-ups at all, apart from when 'Er indoors insists on me poppin' the good 'ol Viagra !

We will NEVER have pop-ups here for adverts. The only time I reserve the right to use them is if I need to convey some important info - but usually I will do that via an internal banner.

 

I wish everyone who used forums like Hednesford's would realise that visitors are fed up with pop-ups.

 

Regular members may know how to get rid of them, but they are not the new blood, new life of the site - the green shoots are killed off by all those adverts.

 

Spread the word - get more clubs involved here - my company will provide whatever hardware/software is required to host as many forums as we can
