Did we really "make our own entertainment", or did we all just stare at the test card for hours, waiting for something to happen?

LOL!!!!!!!! I remember this!!!!! I used to sit at the tv just watching it waiting for the cartoons to come on!!!!! I used to sit there for hours!!!!!! (well what felt like hours at the time!!!!!!!)

What about the white dot in the middle fo the screen, or the 'snowstorm' after the National Anthem on a Saturday night?

 

You don't get entertainment like that these days (bah, humbug, etc etc)

With so many channels available on Sky and Digital, they really ought to start up a 24-hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week testcard station.

 

Perhaps they could call it BPM TV!!

I read somewhere that she took a one off fee for that instead of "appearance" money for whenever she appeared on the TV. She should have got a better agent.

I have a phobia of clowns as well!!!!! I remember that when I was about 3 or 4, my mum and her mate took me and my mum's mate's son (also 3 or 4) to the circus. We were sitting quite near the front (as you do so your kids can see the fun going on!!!!) and the clowns were throwing water at each other! As part of the act, they decided to pick on me and Jamie, and tipped a bucket upside down over our heads. Well, did I scream!!!!!! My mum still says now that she has never heard a kid of that age scream like it!! It wasn't water but paper confetti that was in the bucket, but it was the thought that it may have been water that frightened me!!!!!!
