Two sixties-influenced albums, in their own kind of way - actually, the Stands' one isn't so much 'sixties-influenced' as just downright 'sixties'!!

Ms Bunton is a regular in my Top 3 babes, whereas, although Dido would get a bit, she probably wouldn't make the Top 20!!

I was just thinking that perhaps you prefered the look to the music, or put it another way, would you be still keen on her music if she looked like a munter i.e the big ginger monster from pop idol?

So... seems I've fallen for the oldest marketing trick in pop music!!

 

Genuinely liked her singles as it goes (and I'll get crucified for this, but I loved the Spice Girls!!), but disappointingly, they are predictably the best tracks on the album.

 

Even more disappointingly, the three Stands singles are the best tracks on their album too, though I'm sure it'll be a 'grower'.

that's the problem with singles, sometimes it puts the album in the wrong perspective. i felt a bit like that with the new Franz Ferdinand album, good, but only in patches.

The Jet album is definitely the best album I've bought this week.

 

I'm wondering if they named themselves after the Macca song, as some of their arrangements/solos etc. are very Beatles/Wings-influenced!
