quality foto.. dosent do it justice tho.. those white storage tanks in the distance are on canvey.. that creek to the left is what seperates the two.. from the canvey side (fields and the remains of where the old storage site used to be), is an awesome view of the might of industrial britain.. it you dont get mown down by loons on motocross bikes

And what industry actually goes on there anyway? It's just a place where oil's refined and distributed, a bit like a very big petrol station! (I admit that rather simplifies it a bit, but you get my drift, or oil slick as the case may be).

just a place where oil is refined..? last time i looked that seemed pretty important to most indutrial countries.. ok ill admit that hairdressers probably outnumber oil refiners or whatever they are called but that place is, as industry goes, fking impressive,..

funnily enough i have been to redcar to visit the people who looked after my old man in the war when he was evacuated, the spur line train thing there passes the biggest one of those i have ever seen, makes coryton look like meccano set..

I have seen the sun set over Canvey, which with the refinery (or what ever it is), was quite impresive.

 

Then again, the sun sets at New Lodge are all impresive (cue sarky remark from CANV).

the lobster smack.. which is close to those storage tanks on canvey at the top of that picture (may even be in it) used to be the top place in essex for smuggling ages ago (no not 1974 claire!!)
