Here come the illegal appraoches.....

Recommended Posts

Why should I hide for a start and why should I tell you the facts? As far as I'm concerned if I tell you it's fact that should be enough? Do you think these things get made up? There are some sensible people on these forums you know, despite plenty of ridiculous postings.

Anyway it's not a big secret as you kindly put it, the idea was to provoke conversation and make clubs realise that people are aware of these practices. I am saying no more aside from it's a fact, you can take that answer or leave it.

The fact is....at this level...without the protection of legally binding financial contracts...good players will always be approached.

APART from it being against F.A rules,i can't see the problem.

How can you have a league where you can play a player 24 hours after signing him,but have to way seven days to ask a player if they would be interested in playing for you.

I'm sure clubs of the approached players use that seven days to get inside the players heads and to persuade them not to go. (Maybe resulting in the hindrance of that players career).

Personally,i DO think that an a club should make an official approach to another club....But i think 24 hours instead of seven days is more realistic (and once signed, can then not play until the following week.)

I can understand Abbey's frustration with trying to keep hold of players at this level....but i think they would still be frustrated from 'legal' approaches as well.

PS....If a manager personally phones a rival player, with the intention of persuading him to switch clubs, then that is an illegal approach.....but i'm sure a lot of these incidents are just mates from one club talking to mates at another club (our boss says he'd like to sign you..etc.).

Abbeynut...Pinnacle.....Come on lads.....

We all respect what you say....you make some very good valid points but you cant say something like that and not back it up....!

Like I have previously mentioned we all know it goes on....it happened to us with Danny Clarke....

Unfortunately its a fact of life at this level.....

Once again we are the victims of an illegal approach to one of our players....when will this practice ever stop?

Nice try me thinks....read it properly. "to one of OUR players".

Is it a crime to say that you have been illegally approached now? I only thought it was the other way round... Didn't realise it was, my apologies to everyone else who thought the same as me. I must say I didn't realise how many people were really this interested in this. I thought I would provoke conversation not accusations, well there you go. So for information the approach has been made totally legal and will remain confidential between the club and player I am told. There will be no more posts on this subject from me as it's now boring! Lets move on to concreting..............oops
