Heybridge Swifts 1, Billericay Town 4

In what could be the best performance of the season this season by the Blues, Billericay beat the Swifts 4 - 1 after going down 1 nil in the first couple minutes. Anyone supporting the Blues that were there, thinking at that point "Wha' the fck is going on"? Especially after KK nearly put us ahead before that?

Anyway, the score was soon 1 with Michael Black scoring the equaliser. Soon after KK made it 2 - 1 and shortly follwed that up with another goal to make it 3 - 1. Heybridge really didn't look comfortable anywhere on the pitch and some of their mistakes were quite frankly laughable...as was some of the ref's.

In the second half it was really business as usual, with Billericay dominating most of the game (some will say all but Heybridge did have a couple of (missed) chances), with our defence looking very solid. Michael Black was taken off and Danny Hockton made a well anticipated return in his place with 20 minutes to go. And to celebrate his return, he scored the fourth finishing a lovely move.

All the lads played well, but my player of the match has to go to KK (again). Nice to see he has opened his account.

Great result - what more can be said! Ace to hear KK's back in scoring form for us, and that Hockers returned in style.

C'mon boys, we're nearly out of that 'zone!

i thought it was our best performance of the season and in truth we could have won by a wider margin against a soulless heybridge team.

bit of a shock to give em a goal start but we looked like scoring every time we attacked and i wasnt surprised we turned the defecit around quickly.

i cant really single out anyone as mom as i thought the whole team did well, including the new lads who fitted in nicely, and the contrast between the sense of togetherness and team spirit in our side and the lack of interest in theirs could not have been greater.

great to see hockers back and looking sharp but it must be a worry that he has now gone 10 minutes without a goal (lol)

as for the crowd dont know what the figure was, it didnt look that big but i reckon about half of the crowd were travelling fans so good to see such a healthy turnout.

basingstoke next and lets hope our good away form can be transported back to new lodge for another three points

All good today. Going forwards we were excellent today. Agreed with Justin in the bar after the game when he said that we looked like we could score every time we went forward. He's got a bit of a headache now for the Basingstoke game - reckon one of Opara, Hockton, Tomlinson and Black will miss out unless we change the formation... Nice problem to have Very impressed with Brickell in midfield, apparently he's still going for trials with various league clubs so might not be around too long, but he looked really good. Mendy looked excellent in the tackle, but he did keep playing short balls accross our back 4 that occasionally struggled to get to their intended target... He doesn't speak much English either so AndyP might be using his touchline ban to brush up on his French!

Heybridge did have their chances, but considering we had a totally new back 4 the boys did well. The new lads hadn't even had the chance to train with us before the game so would expect things to be tighter for the visit of Basingstoke.

Thought the ref was OK - made a few mistakes but he was pretty consistent and the game flowed pretty well.

The attendence was 323.

I haven't been to every game this season unlike Gazza, but I definitely agree it's the best we've played this season - 100pc from start to finish. KK did well after getting some enouragement following that early miss leading to the Swifts 15 secs of glory and Tommo was particularly impressive, totally committed. Shouldve scored too but the heybridge keeper made a good save after he'd rounded him - not appreciated by the ref who then gave the second of two bizarre goal kick decisions, to go alongside the blatant back pass he failed to penalize. Still, we shouldnt be surprised...

Agree with JL - we must have had half the crowd, but (and I am nit picking) thought under the current wave of optimisim around the club, and being a very local Essex derby, we should have outnumbered the Swifts faithful few!

Also impressed by Mendy (only just now found out his name!!!) and if that is how he plays with no training and precious little English, I look forward to next week with relish!

ALLEZ LES BLEUS !!!

Another great result and performance. Good to see KK score and Hockton return well after his injury. Full credit to Justin, Andy and the players for completely turning our season around. If we carry on like this we should definitely make the play offs. The next 2 games are very important particularly Braintree at home after we play in form Basingstoke.

agree with most of what has been said but i think tomlinson was superb. KK was a real handfull for them and plays so much better when he isnt trying to kick people rather than the ball. Reckon there could be much potential with mendy and pat at the back.

well done to all the team and management, by far our best showing all season, and a tenner at 3/1 was nice aswell!!!

We didn't just beat the carrot crunchers, we chopped 'em up good and proper. If we had banged in 7 or 8 it wouldn't have been an injustice such was our superiority. If we play like this every week and the bookies keep giving us generous odds, I'll be a very rich man!!
