Loved the Cleggy impression

Worry not, Container Boy - they reunited during the 'new wave of British heavy metal' scene and went down a storm at the 1980 Reading fest. Nod and Jim left after a few more years and now Don and Dave are gigging ronud Eastern Europe as Slade 2. I just missed their Lithuania gig, too... shame.

Yet another off-topic tangent from Merlin. Oh well.

Yes - bit of a drop-off in quality in later years. I did like (And Now The Waltz) C'est La Vie. Dreadful lyrics, as ever.

Personal favourite: How Does It Feel. Over 5 mins of lunacy from the soundtrack album, complete with time changes and a brass section.

I have to say that's one of my favourites as well.

Really didn't like the later stuff as well, to many other bands doing that type of music in the early 80's!.

Was also quite fond of T-Rex in the early 70's, long before I discovered Black Sabbath & Led Zeppelin & learnt just how good music could be!.

Got tickets for the YES gig at Birmingham NEC in June. Now I know it is not heavy metal however it is good music. Saw them at the Finsbury Park Astoria (Also saw the premiere and first production of the stage version of Hitchikers Guide at the same venue) when they did Tales From Topographic Oceans.

My friend actually recorded it now what became of that bootleg.

I rather liked early Genesis. Then Peter Gabriel left and it went rather silly and commercial. You would think that with all the money he made, Phil Collins would have bought himself a convincing syrup or shaved that offending inch square of hair he has left off and be done with it.

Early Genesis were excellent. There is a tribute band from Canada called The Musical Box who recreate the Selling Englnd By the Pond concerts with authentic costumes, lighting etc. I've seen them at the albert Hall and they were superb. Steve Hackett came on at the end and performed Firth of fifth.
