Slough 1 Lewes 0

To add to Liam's detailed comments, it was an awesome defence performance with Daly and Murphy superb again. Daly was MOTM in my opinion. A special big up to the fos for saving the penalty which was very harshly given for handball. Radders, could you please inform us how many penalties we have conceded this season? It seems strangely high. Slough created a handful of good chances and perhaps Hodge should have had a hat-trick. Lewes may feel a trifle unlucky not to have a share of the points as they did have a lot of possession but I felt they created little.

Well done to the boys, lets keep it going at Dulwich. Come on you rebels!!!!

Although Lewes had a lot of the attacking possession, thanks to Murph and Daly they created very few goalscoring chances. The penalty appeared a but harsh from the other end of the pitch, but Fossie didn't have to work hard to save it given that he went the right way - it was a poor penalty - but not taking anything away from Foster as he still had to keep it out.

Hodge, Boot and Harris all could have scored but for a mix of poor finishing and good goalkeeping from old Dom Jean.

Highlight of the day - Lewes getting their comeuppance after the match.... (No doubt this comment will spark a few questions!)

The sort of game we never win but today we did. A gutsy, gritty performance with Daly and Smurf once again in line for man of the match. Our performance level in the first half slipped below what we have seen in recent matches, with several players far from their best. The penalty was given but poorly executed but Fossie did well to clear it with his feet.

In the second half both sides were digging in and could have gone either way. But we got the goal and held on towards the end despite some desperate defending at times. We could have and probably should have scored more than one to seal the points, but a very good victory to make it five wins in a row in the league.

Lewes fans will be disappointed to have left with nothing, but it was about time we got one over them. Bring on Dulwich!

First 1-0 of the season!

Firstly the Eddie interview should be online Wednesday, sorry for the delay.

Just like everyone else i couldn't watch the last 5 minutes it was so nerve racking! What a defensive performance, Murphy and Daly both played brilliantly with Barras and Riddell both looking in control for most of the match. I though Williams was playing great, shame he had to go off. Another great goal from Hodge but i thought Boot had a bit of an off day. Harris had a cracker!

Great bit of revenge for the players after the match, the Lewes boys got a taste of thier own medicine!

Well Done Rebels......Dulwich will be a tough one!

Had to keep my mouth shut on the way home, otherwise the Lewes supporters threatened to leave me behind....but what a win, i think we edged it with some neat passing in the second half and resolute defending. Five wins on the trot - who can complain!

Note that Lewes fans giving Foster a load of stick winding him up, saying Slough fans thought he was [***!!***], after they had read our website! Then he goes and saves a penalty (which even they reckon wasn't one).

Can't wait for Dulwich.

Time to rub the Lewes supporters noses in it, now i'm safely back home.

Well that was nerve tingling ! and after a quiet first half, except for the penalty...which was very harse indeed....and well done fozie....for the save...which kept us going...and in fact lifted us a bit !

The second half had everything in it, end to end stuff with both side having chances, but what a great goal, with a great cross from Glenn, a worthy winner...for a hard fort match..with Slough edging the result...don't forget we should have had a point at lewes for our great performance there...so over the 2 matches...even stephens....

WELL DONE SLOUGH GREAT TEAM EFFORT !!!!

OK let's see....

When we played at the Dripping Pan a few months back the Lewes players celebrated the win like they'd won the world cup, thumping the floor and shouting down through the floor about their win as their dressing room was directly above the Slough one. The Slough players exacted their revenge today by cheering for a good ten minutes after the whistle and banging on the wall between the dressing rooms. Aaah, sweet revenge!

With his gelled mullet and constant diatribe at the ref, the Lewes manager looked like a Harry Enfield character. He spent most of the second half slagging off Haddow after he'd had a minor exchange with the Lewes No 7 Adeniyi.

At the end of the game Haddow tried to shake his hand, but Loadsabollocks made a big showing of blanking him.

Another suberb team performance from the REBELS in a tough game, my moth vote goes to Murphy he and Daly are forming a strong defensive partnership, the passing in the second half by the team was a joy to be seen, praise should also go to Eddie and Micheal giving non stop encouragement to the players through out the whole game like to know where we are in the league now

just a nice gritty, resolute performance all round restricting Lewes to a few chances. probably 60/40 to Lewes on possession terms but Slough I felt carved out five opportunties to Lewes handful ( I can't remember the Foz having to make a save). Oh and it was a beautiful cross from harris just out of DJs reach, magnifique!!

Apart from the penalty of course

But yes I'd agree he didn't have a lot to do. And he took crosses very well today after a few 'moments' in recent games, so well done Fossie and the rest of the team in general. 6 on the bounce now, isn't it lovely to have beaten Bromley, Staines and Lewes in 3 of them (all genuine top 6 contenders and exactly the games we need to be doing well in). Let's hope the boys can make it 7 next Saturday.

Not that I am one to say i told you so! But as soon as Lewes got their penalty I said to my mate that Foster was going to save the penalty just to shut those people up that had been slagging him off! Granted it wasn`t the greatest of penalties but still needed saving. Also like to point out and agreee with my mate when he said Foster is exactly the same as Trevor Bunting an excellent shot stopper but not the greatest on crosses, yet Trevor was a hero to many fans SO what`s the difference? Sorry to bring the Foster issue up again but some of those comments about him recently were over the top and IN MY OPINION out of order. Glad to see him do well today.

brilliant today boys - we were not at are best, but the team spirit showed and we battled our way through.

The back four were excellent and yes the midfield and front did not have the best of games, but we battled so well. Thought Daly, Murphy and Fozzy were outstanding (i'm no one of these Fozzy critics - I really don't see some peoples prolem with Foz) and also thought Haddow was excellent possibly my mom when he came on - had the Lewes 7 in his pocket when he was dangerous in the first half and helped out Barras on numerous occasions.

I also remarked that Foster would save the penalty for the same reasons, and yes all credit to him he looked a lot more assured throughout the game although never severely tested. The only time I was slightly worried was when (I think) No 7 got round him when he came out a bit early in the first half but fortunately his effort was crap. Murphy and Daly were outstanding once again (how can anyone decide MOTM between those two?!?!?) as was Haddow after his introduction. Felt sorry for the crab as he was starting to find his form. Thought Wilko, Hakki and Harris had their weakest first halves for some time but then all three were excellent in the second half when the whole team really seemed to step it up. If there was a weak link, it was, once again Boot for me. Sometimes his lack of effort compared to the others is so obvious. Anyway an excellent win, bring on Dulwich now, oh and congratulations to Gary on his quiz win.
