BTW Radders I don't disagree with anything you say about Fossie. I am v. worried about him. There is not a game that goes by where I will not say "f*%&ing hell fossie" at least once. But I am standing a pitch length away from him. I think with a lot of players in our side all they need is a good rollcking and they will up their game. That clearly does not work with the Fos otherwise smurf would have had an impact. I think the other way is to praise him when he does well and keep quiet-ish when he cocks up, build the lad's confidence. The other option would be to sign another keeper as foster is the only player in the squad to face no competition for his place.

My big worry is that Foster could come on here read all of this and become even more depressed and introverted than he already is.

Thats true Martin, but another way of looking at it is that he may up his game to respond to the criticism. If at the end of the season we reach the top 6 it won't be a major issue but I'm just nervous with his current form. I really hope he can regain some confidence as I do believe he is still a decent keeper. Form is temporary, class is permanent and all that, but he does need a kick up the [****!!****]!

Looking at the Foster issue from a different angle - what if he gets injured - who do we have to go in goal?

We need to have another keeper 1, to cover for injuries and 2, to keep Foster on his toes.

I have to agree with Radders, Foster has had a mare recently and I hope that he gets back to his pre xmas form.

At the momment I dread the opositon breaking as Foster either comes to early and gets stranded or hesitates and fails to reduce the angles.

The strange thing is before xmas the defence were cr*p and he was solid, but now Daly etc. are back Foster is weak.

Maybe this is not a coincidence?

If the defence is weak, the goalie is unlikely to trust them to stop the ball, and so will have to play harder to compensate (and vice versa - hence giving the appearance of being 'off form' at present).

Alternatively, if the defenders/goalie are not working well as a team, the goalie will have to spend extra effort watching what his defence is up to, leaving less time/concentration available for keeping an eye on the opposition.
