Thought they did okay, to be fair. Don't mind Busted in general.

Best performance of the night came from Muse - they fking rocked!!

Glad to see the Brit Awards agreed with the Zeal Awards in a couple of categories - best group and best album!

Was convinced that Dido was gonna win best album, so pleasantly surprised.

As for Duran - roll on April 13th!!

Unlikely, unless the 'birthday fairy' is prepared to spend a sizeable amount of cash on Ebay.

Is that your way of telling us it's your birthday today, then?

Happy Birthday!

OK, back to the plot.. are Busted and the Darkness the best we have to offer these days? Dido's OK but Beyonce? I mean!

I quote from the BBC:

Another huge cheer came for Duran Duran, who received the lifetime achievement award and shamed many young performers up by reminding us that pop and rock stars can be credible without being comical.

Both The Darkness and Busted produce a cartoonish blend of rock and pop in different ways - but Duran Duran played universal rock that was serious and simply great.

Absolutely.

Anyone who wrote off Duran Duran as "pretty-boy throwaway pop" in the '80s must now listen to the Greatest Hits album and eat their words.

Between 1981 and 1985 they churned out one brilliant single after another. Their ear for a tune and musicianship are second to none and listening back to their stuff now, I think people are starting to finally realise just how good they were/are.

The Darkness were worthy winners in my humble opinion, Rob.

Busted, however, were not, although if there was a Best Pop band category, they should win, as they piss on Blue and the others.

How did Busted win Best Breakthrough? How can the Darkness win Best Band and then not win Best Breakthrough, being as they were unheard of 12 months ago??

Dido is a bore, but is very, very sexy!

I must admit I've gone off The Darkness. If they'd been around in the seventies they'd have been laughed off the stage (spinal tap?).

Busted are quite talented for a bunch of 13 year-olds, not a bad rendition of 'teenage kicks' though not up to old Fergal's standard.

Dido? Beyonce? couldn't really care less about either of them musically, just threw that one in to stir things up a little <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Hmmmmm, fair point Rob, but Duran Duran have been around since the 80's and therefore have a much wider fan base. By this I mean, is that they have fans from different generations. For example (not being rude here Rob), but speaking for you, as an older generation fan, you like them, and me, from a "younger" generation fan, I like them too. They have "double" the fan base, and probably allot more bias views from allot more people. They write and play music as the times change, and this is why they have done so well.

The Darkness have not even been around for a year yet, (in the media). Many of us hadn't even heard of them this time last year, but I think that it is brilliant that they have made their mark on the industry and have won 2 Brit awards! Their music, although in some respect is a bit commercial, but it is good! They deserve to have won, and if they aren't around this time next year, well at least they've lived for the moment!! That's the way life has got to be lived. No point in thinking that they wont be around like Duran were. Duran Duran have worked hard to be here for over 20 years! And maybe the Darkness will be here in the next 20 years!!!!!!!!!
