EFM v SS v SACFC v SACFCR

Recommended Posts

A couple of years ago the EFM v Saints Supporters game at the park was watched by a crowd of over 100, the reserves are becoming increasingly popular with the crowds and supporters v the 1st team always raise a smile and we're fully aware how much the reserves like to play the 1st team.

So how about as a end of season curtain closer instead of the normal 20 people attending a end of season party, we run a mini tournament between EFM, saints supporters, the 1st and reserve teams at the park (half hour a game for example) followed by a joint party in the clubhouse (The EFM v SS party up there a couple of seasons ago was rammed).

Charge a couple of quid to get in and wallow in the bar profits as well, do it on a Friday night rather than a Saturday afternoon and expect people to come back in the evening!

Any thoughts?

I have a feeling there is some sort of end-of-season football day planned already, although EFM will doubtless be excluded, and the first team won't qualify.

I haven't heard anything lately though, so perhaps AFF could let us know what is going on.

The Club and St Albans City Yoof F.C. are joining forces and are arranging a 'Dawn till Dusk' tournament on the 2nd or 3rd Saturday in May, EFMTFTV. Lots of teams are expected to enter and t'organising committee will be allocating teams into various pools etc.

I think that SS are intending to enter. What about EFM? I heard a rumour that Real Madrid might be up for sending a side over although they might be in a different pool.

Cue Caretaker.......

Depending on what the dawn till dusk day contains (May 15th), a mini tournament on EFMTFTV's basis sounds a mighty fine idea. SS have a disco booked for May 15th for our end of season do anyway, so could incorporate into that.

As AFF says, more info from the Caretaker required I think.....

Correct. Sunday May 15th, starting 8.00 am to finish around 8.00pm,"Football Fun Day" featuring all teams from City Youth and a selection of teams connected to the main club - for me that includes an EFM team if your funds run to it

The pitch will be split to allow two games to take part simultaneously, teams will consist of 7 players and it is envisaged that each game will be 30 mins long. Throughout the day there will be guest appearances and teams will be drawn from the hat to take part in showcase games.

The idea is that each team raises a minimum of £70 to take part (additional sponsorship of each team is actively encouraged) food will be available all day, the bar open ( times tbc ) and hopefully other side shows throughout the day. All monies made will be split between both clubs.

Final details are being progressed and registration forms / running order for the day should be out before the end of this month.

All suggestions for entertainment welcome, any further questions, come to the reserve game on Wednesday and ask me !!

Now you come to mention it we need the PA system manned throughout the entire day, a superb selection of background music only broken when a vital anouncement is required.

Christ ... better get the cobbler who used to work Hackney Marshes to nail some new leather studs onto the old boots (for those not in the know you used to be able to repair your boots in this way, not just throw them in the bin and buy a new pair).

See you at training as well then
