New Structure

I would like to hear Slough's fans views on the restructuring as have just seen the plans in the non-league paper and was shocked to discover that the majority of clubs will be relegated to a lower step eg. Slough currently in step 3 yet if finish 8th will play in Southern league North in step 4 against the likes of Burnham and Bracknell Town also teams like my own AFC Wimbledon (Combined Counties - Southern League South) and your landlords Windsor/Eton (Isthmian South - Southern Prem) although in higher leagues would still be in same step as are this season!! Yet on the Other hand teams like Maidenhead finish 13th and get into the new 2nd tier Conference!! Is this fair pls do give your views as surely clubs will lose money on attendances but save on travelling....

This has been covered a number of times in this forum.

I think the consensus was that Slough Town HAD to finish at least 6th in the league (or 7th, and suffer a play-off), or else we would be doomed to lots of long-distance travel to poorly-supported opponents.

(From memory, the worst was Bideford (N. Devon) - a 400-mile round-trip on a Tuesday night - not for me thank you!)

As Slough fans not bothered on the fairness of the new structure just who they are playing and distance here is a good league should they finish below 7th place:- But what league would it be Isthmian Div.1, Southern League South or Southern League North...

AFC Wimbledon

Ashford Town (Mx)

Beaconsfield SYCOB

Bracknell Town

Bromley

Buckingham Town

Burnham

Berkhamsted Town

Chesham United

Didcot Town

Egham Town

Ilford

Leatherhead

Marlow

Met. Police

Oxford City

Slough Town

Thame United

Tooting and Mitcham

Staines Town

Uxbridge

Walton and Hersham

This would be good geographically and have some good local matches like Burnham, Beaconsfield and Marlow. Of course you could get in the top 6 and play Windsor/Eton and Maidenhead........

All the motivation the players should need regarding the possible league line ups I'm sure has filtered through to them by now and may even be perhaps one of the reasons behind the recent upturn in performance, although many will still feel that is down to my non-attendance!

I don't think supporters of Slough Town care about how far we have to travel, it's the quality of opposition we face. I personally would feel aggreived at dropping down yet another place in the pyramid - yes we've been relegated twice in the space of five years but this would annoy me. We desperately need a top-6 place to ensure we don't slip further down towards park football, and lose our best players.
