Bowers Utd 0 Lee Enfield Town 4

Recommended Posts

It was a game when everything went right. Let me repeat that everything went right!

Lee Smith flicked a ball on for Billy Cove to connect with - WOW this looks encouraging. Lee Digby marking the keeper was shoved in the back to the ground. No penalty.

Town kept up the pressure until Lee Smith poked the ball home under the body of the luckless keeper (0 - 1).

In the first half town had more chances than the last 3 games in total.

The first half ended to chants of "It's just like watching Brazil."

Second half Bowers tried to put pressure on and the more they did the more Town just were too strong for them.

Kevin Riley came down the left side and cracked the ball past the keeper from the edge of the box. 0 - 2. Cracker!

Lee Digby was causing all sorts of problems going forward and eventually was fouled so blatanly that the ref had to give the penalty and the 16 year old strode up and nailed the penalty 0 - 3. New chant of "We love you Digby we do"

Just after that one of the Bowers defenders fouled Lee Digby. The defender was booked but unfortunately so was Billy Cove who went to his aid.

Finally Lee (Ian) Cooper was brought down in the box again. Ref bottled it . For a second time Lee Cooper was brought down in the box Penalty? No, but he somehow managed to get up and nail it 0 - 4. If you missed it you missed a cracker.

Lee Digby was my man of the match but Lee Smith, Lee (Ian) Cooper and Lee (Steve) Baldwin all put in good performances.

Our run of good refs came to an end today, but we still won.

Bowers weren't good but we exorcised a few ghosts today with a balanced performance - Well everybody.

I have been given Lee Smith as the first scorer - this is the name that has gone out to media at the moment, if it transpires that it is incorrect, then my apologies to Mr Cove ..I am sure it will sort itself out in the wash !

Best performance for ages,Digby outstanding and I just love his deadball tactics both corners and free-kicks,one of the most deserved goals for the youngster that you could wish for.

No southport and a good performance is there a connection?should southport be banned if there is?

Got to admit that the team performed much better yesterday than in recent games.

It did appear that the players were playing as a unit rather than individuals and it was good to see that they supported each other throughout the 90 minutes.

Things to think about?

What decision would the referee have given if he had seen the Bowers goalkeeper pull Lee Digby's shorts down? We have a child protection officer at the club. Should we report the keeper?

Felt sorry for Billy Cove who went to the rescue of Danny Francis who had been pushed, pulled and knocked to the ground. The perpetrator got booked and so did Billy.

Much better Jim. Much better team.

Tell us on Saturday what's it like to play on grass?

Over to you, Steph.
