Winning the league

ST is that all......

I thought you were more in Ronaldo's league (reported 230k per week) lol

I agree with Pinnacle....what is the point in paying players if the club cannot progress...

We have doubled our budget at Ilford to attract players who can get us to where we want to go along with ETFC but whats the point...Concord ?

Cannot comment about how much players get etc as I'm not sure and its not my business....

The only thing that matters to Town is finishing ahead of Ilford and I'm sure the opposite is true for Ilford finishing ahead of Town. Is that why they are so keen to recruit our players?

We want that place, but you never know if the 19th February might not bring a crumb of comfort for the Town?

Don't appear that Concord, Abbey, Sawbo and Romford can go anywhere so it is playing purely for the enjoyment and the league trophies (which are very nice).

My prediction is the last game of the season will be the one between Ilford and the most likely champions so that Ilford can use their balcony again!

You mean a certain person from the Leyton area.

I think the Ryman league are well aware of the 'previous' between our two clubs.....anyway it's a majority we're after.....and he would look pretty silly if he was the only one to vote against us.

Also don't forget the Ryman isn't the only option....Its not certain that the Ryman league(as we know it),will survive it's action against the conference.

Under the existing (or rather previous) rules we would have needed a large majority, if I remember rightly. Didn't AFC Wimbledom fail to get elected because about 2 clubs voted against them, or something?

A chairman would only bear a grudge against us if we were a threat to him (or her) and his (or her) club, presumably, for example if we were the only real threat to that club's title/promotion aspirations.

That would not really occur in the Ryman League.

An existing Ryman 1N club playing not in this borough might take that view!

To be eligible for promotion from the ESL an official notification had to be made by end Dec 2003, which both Ilford and ETFC did. Provided both grounds are up to standard and graded then the promotion aspect is simple. If either Ilford or Enfield Town win the league they will go up, if Sawbo for example win the league then Enfield are second Ilford 3rd Enfield would go up. It does not go down to third, so if Enfield and Ilford fail to make the top 2 then neither will go up. The ESL have always supported clubs wishing to progress and I have never heard of an individuals view being taken into account. Indeed if you speak to the ESL committee they are fiercely proud of Ford, Canvey, GWR etc. They supported Romford when we got promoted (and when we came back!). Hopefully everyone is clear now and we can look forward to a cracking finish. We could even win it ourselves, only Ilford, Sawbo and Concord (twice) to beat!!

Realist, that was then, but this is now. Promotion wasn't automatic, as clubs from the ESL, SSSL and the CCL could all APPLY to the Ryman League Division 1 North/South for 2 of the 4 places (2 in each), as the top two of Ryman 2 were given automatic promotion.

However that is all up in the air now and nobody knows what is happening. As Andy says all anyone can do is go for it!
