For those of you who think you can still play

We (Farnborough Supporters Team) are organising a tournament on Saturday 1st May at Cherrywood Road. So far Aldershot, Woking, Stevenage and Barnet have said they are interested. Tamworth, Shrewsbury and Dagenham have also been contacted.

This will be an event aimed at raising money through team entry fees. Money raised will be going to a local charity the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice.

The format I am looking at so far will be either a 6 or 12 team tournament (I am trying to get Cove FC as a second pitch) involving mainly conference teams + Cove

There will be mini league stages where 2 leagues of 3 teams play at each ground. Each of the teams in each league playing each other. So each team plays 2 matches in the group stage. Then knock out/plate matches after that. The exact format will depend slightly on number of teams/pitches.

This will be an 11 a side tournament and matches will probably be 30 mins. Again, slightly dependant on number of teams.

Cost will be £5 per player, (approx £75 per team) paid slightly in advance (post dated cheques in April) so I am not collecting money on the day. All money to a very good cause.

After the tournament the social club will be open for all the participants to get together.

If enough teams are involved I will try to get someone like the NLP to sponsor a trophy/give it some coverage.

If anyone has contacts at other Conf clubs please let me know and I will try to get them involved if we can get the 2nd pitch.

Would like to hear from FGR, Margate, Burton, Gravesend, Hereford, Telford (or anyone else interested) if you have contacts or if you are one of these.

Even if you don't have a regular team, why not try to get one together for this, and then maybe play some more games next season, plenty of Conf teams do now.

Regards

Nick - FTFC
