Billericay 1-2 Hendon

Not a bad performance tonight, but our lack of strength in depth was brutally exposed. Without Taylor, Graham and Davidson we had Aziz making his first league start out of position at right back, in a reshuffled back line.

Thought KK had a good game tonight, very lively up front. Tomlinson got another "assist" and was denied by a good save. Obviously we struggled a tad at the back so hopefully Taylor and Davidson will be back soon.

I thought you guys put up a decent fight, first half particularly when you caused us plenty of problems. Our first goal was against the run of play, but I felt that we held very firm in the second half after we had regained the lead.

Keep playing like you did last night, and I understand you were missing a few players, and you ought to make it out of the bottom four.

Good luck for the rest of the season.

Agree with simon re our lack of strength in depth with defenders. Plus our inabilty to deal with crosses, as has been the case for most of the season, came to haunt us again last night. Im sure Justin would have been very angry with the was in which we conceeded because apart from the goals i didnt think hendon really looked too dangerous going forward.

Thought on the whole the lads put up a good effort again tonight, thought we missed the injured 3 badly, but we did create plenty of chances. I thought it strange that baukham came on and not tolan. I player returning from injury comes on when tolan has looked lively and given us extra pace up frount. I guess justin was thinking of baulkhams hight.

Lets hope we can put six past thurrock on saturday!

Yes, Baulkham came on presumably to add some height, yet he spent most,if not all of his time out on the left leaving the centre unmanned. I thought Aziz did a good job playing out of position, Gary Henty was obviously a bit miffed moving to left back, where he had a poor gane. Hunter seems to have had a replacement engine installed he was up and down like a true midfielder, great performance. The same can't be said of S.Jones, soon as he goes to Great Wakering the better, and Tomlinson well I've seen three games now and I really can't see what attributes he has.

I felt Hendon started the better of the two teams but as the first half Billericay came into the game more and more. Again the defence’s fatal flaw was exposed as both Hendon’s goals came from crosses but considering the defence had Henty and Aviz playing out of position the defence done well. As the second half went I felt it was more likely that Hendon would seal the game then Billericay get back on level terms.

KK was far better and a lot livelier than he was V Ford. I felt Tomilson didn’t play as well as on Saturday but he still had a good game with a nice flick onto Hunter for the goal. Although we lost the game the players can take heart from a battling performance against one of the better teams in the league despite missing key first tamers they battled on and showed a lot of sprit. Does anyone know how long Davidson and Taylor will be out for.

Andy Davidson picked up a knee injury (ligaments) against Hornchurch... Has been playing on, but has been advised to rest it. Spoke to him last night and he was "absolutely gutted" not to be playing, and hoping to be back soon. Problem is it's one of those that could put him out for a fair while if he's not careful.

Surprised at Ray's comment's re Tomlinson - played 3 games and got 3 assists isn't a bad start. Reminds me a bit of one of my all time faves - Paul Battram who wasn't hugely prolific himself but who laid on plenty of goals for his strike partner, Leon Gutzmore. Reckon that a Tomlinson - Hockton double act could net plenty!

The big positive from last night was that when we got the ball down and played it about a bit we were creating chances... And my "stat du jour" still holds firm....We've never lost when Davidson has been in the team!

Football is a cruel game as we all know. It wasn't so much the defeat that hurt, although our performance was more than worthy of a point, but at yet another crucial stage of the season sees us being robbed of players. Luke Graham and Andrew Davidson have been instrumental in our mini-revival and thier abscence was felt last night. Sam Taylor being out meant that with a small squad and no natural replacement, means we have to shuffle the pack once more. Let us not forget either, that injury has denied us the services of our top scorer on a fairly consistent basis all season. KK would have been my MOM last night, and fully deserved his inclusion in the side when many thought Chris Stowe should have started. Don't agree with the above comments on Tomlinson, who in my opinion will turn out to be an important asset for us. These were always going to be two very tough games against two of the leagues better sides. Saturdays game against Purfleet is a must win. Get behind the Blues.
