Another super result and definitely well deserved especially after the disappointment of last Tuesday.

 

Adam Gregory scored in the last minute.

Town played well and this match had all the markings of a 0 - 0 draw. I came away feeling that I had been entertained to a game of football.

 

Unfortunately in extra time both teams got tired (Abbey with the cramp and our boys gave up marking an attacker sufficient for him to scramble the ball in the net.

 

We weren't sufficiently better than Abbey when it counted.

 

I thought the ref Wayne Smith was good. It was a game like the one some seasons ago when we played Bowers and they nicked it ensuring we didn't win the league - Oh well! Well done Abbey.

 

Lee Smith was back on the bench.

On the main I thought it was a good game and, like the previous meetings, pretty even.

How come you deserved the three points? Chopper barely touched the ball in the first half - though I do agree that you probably shaved the second half. Again we did not make our superiority count.

I feel Abbey deserved the points tonight. They came with a plan and executed it well although Town were awful and had no sense of direction. We are badly lacking in width and have no cohesion. I believe we are no longer in a position to win the title, especially on current form. Three points were a must tonight and coming away with none leaves all our title contenders in a better position than ours.

 

I disagree that tonights game was entertaining. It almost ended 0-0, had very few goalscoring opportunities, was rather scrapy and the referee failed to allow the game to flow. In fact it was rather boring.

etfc fans you have gone up in my estimations. you are right neither side necissarely deserved to win tonight. cleggy you have the game right mate.

 

although someone said chopper didnt touch the ball in the first half we had some half chances ie dangerous crosses into the box and forwards not shooting early enough. although you were the better side in the 1st.

 

in the second i feel we were the more dangerous although you had somegood periods of pressure. we made the better chances and should of done better with them.

 

like you say, after tuesdays game i think it has evened out.

 

thanks for the songs, manager said if i waved he would cut my hands off! probably a good reason not to wave.

 

fruitbat you took your stick well and again your hospitality was great. stewards, the p.a man and fans alike.

Pinnacle...your such a twat give em stick, cos believe me if they had won they would do it to you...I got a mention and I never even posted earlier!!! was the Ref that bad......some of our club say yes...I dont know...too many people in this game blame officials instead of themselves? Food for thought...I have seen a hell of a lot worse...ETFC..great banter..just don't forget ....no one no matter how good or well you think you play has a divine right to win a game of football, or the fact that they have x amount of fans....it just dont happen......

well said cleggy, well said at last a genuine etfc fan comment and steph chopper may not have touched the ball too much in the first half, but second when we broke he certainly made his quality known...trouble is you were all prob up the otherend and could not see his contribution. Over the two games, by far your best player I feel. Anyway, good luck rest of season, we prob have best rivalry in league and a league like this needs that...I know you feel Ilford etc but these games always throw up an interesting encounter......

a few facts foryou, wafc have lost 1 in our last 9 league games. we have kept 7 clean sheets in those 9 games alsowehave played in those thecurrent champions and the team that tops the table, add to that concord rangers and burnham r twice, we are doing ok.

 

from now until theend of the season the only side we play above us is ilford.

Considering recent form, the result was not a surprise. Town are just not firing at the moment. All those strikers and only one goal in the last two games. It will take a miracle to win the league now. The question is, can we be promoted without finishing in the top two? Town will have to will all the last eight games to have any chance at all, and on recent form, I do not think they will as opposing teams will always play with committment and endevour, which we tend to lack at times. We need a midfield and width as previosly mentioned to give what is by far the best strike force in the league some chances. Do we miss Lee Smith? just a bit!

first half was probably just about ET's, second half probably WA's.

 

At the end of the day 93rd minute, WA took their chance.

 

Again poor attacking from ET; when the crosses came in they casued problems; but too few.

I could'nt have said it better myself abbeyman those townies were [color:"red"] DISGRACEFUL [/color] all the shirt pulling, pulling down by shorts and smaking in the face rolling over and kicking while they were down (with the biased townies thinking they were in the right) the ref was totally blind
those townies got so load in the second half as they ere so sure of them selves i just loved that slice in the net when it all went silent and they all buggered off to there pig stis.
