Upon meeting with the BTSA commitee last night (Monday 9th February 2004) that, due to the half term holiday commitments and work commitments, a strong presence could not be guaranteed in the High Street and it was therefore decided to cancel this Saturdays promotion in front of Peter Murrays and re schedule it for 28th Fenbruary 2004.

Vice Chairman BTSA.

Doesn't quite work like that Slik.... Those that can numbered only 3 or 4 on the 14th.... Those 3 or 4 would have been up in the high st for about 3 hours then off down to New Lodge to run the shop, 50/50, man a turnstile, sign up members for BTSA and TJs etc etc etc. By the end of the day those that can would have put in 7 hours + for the BTSA, which is a very big ask! One of the things that we badly need is for more people to get involved helping with the BTSA activities... Any volunteers present yourself at the Town Shop!

Things are and we are slowly getting people interested in helping out at the club on match days.

I think everyone should find their level of support. There are those who do, those who want to do and those who are happy to just watch. For one reason or another (like personal commitments) no one should be obliged to feel that they should.

I agree Gazza. no none shouuld be forced or pressured, thats not the way forward.

It will cause friction amongst members, encouragement and recognition is always the prefered route.

I was involved as a commitee member with a club (not Football) on the south coast, and we had members who would pledge their help, but cry off at the last miniute, and it was always the same commited few who would be relied on. But over time the commited few slowly dissapeared due to moving home, ill health etc. That club is not there anymore. A great shame.

I saw the post RE a change of date, and it reminded me of the Scholers Club.

Best of luck with your work though.

The reason for the change of date has nothing to do with the lack of commitment of the BTSA, more to do with work and family commitments on that date. Each member gives up a considerable amount of their time to support the club, just on this occasion, other things have cropped up. The members of the BTSA are firmly commited to the club and the success of the club.

Anyway, thanks for your wishes.
