"To what extent has Bruce's rug/syrup/palooka/wig prolongued his tv career?"

 

If he didn't wear it, would he still be on tv now?

 

Don't see Russ Abbott on tv [thank feck] since he decided to go "au naturel".

I have a Video (admittedly very old) of Brucie and Norman Wisdom when they did the whole of Sunday Night at the London Palladium on there own, during an Actors Strike......priceless!

Yep thats the one.....and the phone sketch where Norman slides over the piano....he was still doing that well into his 70's. I once met the man in Shoreham/Portslade where he used to moor his boat..A true Gentleman!

Brucie - something of a folk-hero to those of us who went to the Latymer School, Edmonton N9. The marvellously-chinned one is an ex-pupil. They keep quiet about that if you're a pupil there, though.

 

PS I wonder if he's related to Enfield Town's Lee Smith? ESL fans will know what I mean.

Often told story of Bruce Forsyth and Sean Connery playing golf together.

Connery is having a howler and his shot goes into the deepest bunker on the course. Forsythe turns to Connery and says "I bet there's not a larger trap on this course!"

Nah...I think Brucie's a lad too. Got lots of respect for him He's always been funnier than Monkhouse [although they say Monknouse was a "craftsman of comedy" - didn't show to me].

I just wondered if his syrup had something to do with him still being on tv...
