Enfield Town v Worthing - Final league game of the Season

Recommended Posts

  • Tally Ho changed the title to Enfield Town v Worthing - Final league game of the Season

My glass is currently half empty. Granted, its been a Herculean effort the second half of the season. However, fielding the likes of Tanner and Thomas for the first half of the season was disastrous.

  • Salisbury should win comfortably against a Welling side that shipped 5 against Chelmsford today and checked out some time ago.
  • We are now relying upon Truro to do the business for us. They should have enough, but its a funny old game.
  • Worthing will have the pressure off them with little chance of overhauling the 4 sides now above them. Odds on Mo scoring the goal(s) which will send us back to Step 3?

Truro are still going for the league so a 3 points would essentially make them league winners. Salisbury have the easiest game out the three of course but they don’t wow me at all.

We’re going to have another close 2,500 people there on Saturday and I just hope the moment doesn’t get to the players.

Don’t forget that Truro were minutes away from beating us and look what happened.
I’m still of the opinion that we will be in the same league next season. Believe.

We need to tell our defenders that Mo is no threat in the air (even at 6ft 3). He will deliberately go out of his way to avoid the ball hitting his head. We need to to make sure he doesn't have time to turn and face up the goal with the ball at his feet. That is the real danger.

Sounds like Cashman did his hamstring today so thats possibly a little bit of good news for us. Unfortunately, Worthing have a large and strong squad. The Predicted League is calling a 1-1 draw. I'm going for another 1-4 defeat - while I listen to the Truro commentary with everything crossed!

So squeaky bum times are back then . 🤣🤣🤣

But on a serious note it's very unlikely St Alban's will win next Saturday as much as everybody at Cheshunt wants them to. 🤣🤣🤣

Come on you Saints

Come on the Salisbury

And come on the Worthing.  😁

Truro can win the league … they will be up for it. Only shred of positivity.

On the other hand they might bottle it 😁

Thought you'd been quiet recently, you little scamp! Whatever happens, Town have certainly done better than your little village team did during their stay at Step 2.

Home and away table above.

St Albans have won only 2 games away all season, and have to beat Truro.  Truro avg 2 pts a game at home....and St Albans less than a point away.

Truro have only 4 games at home all season and won 13........interesting as an aside to see that BW have won more home games than any other team in this league so no shame in holding them to 0 0 for 45 minutes today.

Not expecting anything from Welling as they are already down so really it's up to us to take care of our business.....which will be a very tall order with Worthing winning 7 games on their travels this season.

Whatever happens we've done amazingly to get in this position and hope we get enough of a performance next weekend and hopefully enough luck to get us over the line.

If we'd have had a more settled squad maybe two or three weeks earlier we would probably be safe by now.

Crossing everything for Saturday.

ps....Worthing keeper dropped a clanger for Dorking's equaliser today so they look nervy too.

I'm not sure you can really put too much faith in the Home and Away form for the season when it comes to guessing the outcome of the Truro v St Albans fixture. The circumstances are now completely unique. Its much more akin to a cup tie. There will be nerves and errors. You'd like to think that the 3,000+ fans will drag Truro over the line. Hopefully Truro can grab an early goal just to settle the nerves and then canter to a 4 goal lead at half-time.

Meanwhile, I'm far from reassured by the Town performance last Friday. We looked nervous and showed very little composure. I may need to watch the game from beside the Club's defibrillator.

A word about the large crowds. I love the place when it's full and buzzing! We'll possibly to see 2,000+ again on Saturday. That is incredible and great for the club. Yes, not all are regulars, but the "Ultras" can still get behind the goal and create an atmosphere!

What it does do is increase the coffers from the extra spending, loads of new scarves and hats on display last weekend and, most importantly, makes us more attractive to advertisers. The more big gates like this the more attractive we become and more money we get to spend on players.

I wish there was a way to reduce the queues at the bars though! All the way down the stairs on Saturday till almost half time.
