Aveley

Dare i say it’s a must win tomorrow? Not only vital to more or less keep us in this division but after last Saturday’s utter embarrassment nothing but a decent performance but mostly importantly a win will do. Yes Aveley will have no fear and nothing to lose but they’re also bottom and been relegated for a reason!

Most significant fact regarding tomorrow is Aveleys very poor form Form is published for last 4 last 6 last 8 and last 10 Aveley have come 23rd 23rd 24th and 24th  absolutely no fight!

Won

Won 3-0

Weymouth who lost heavily today become the second relegated team

Both teams immediately behind us lost so I'm sure that makes us safe.

St Albans would have to get 10 points from last 4 games just to level with us and that assume we get none I'm sure today was the clincher!

There are lots of other possible outcomes St Albans might save themselves at the expense of another of the lowly teams we just ha e to avoid 21st and I'm sure today did that

Well, what a difference a week makes. A very good performance from the whole squad today. I thought the standouts were Davies, Pruti, Ogbonna, Gilbert and the rest of the squad all played their parts. A little more clinical finishing and we could have had 3/4 more. Set up correctly and the boys clearly realised they needed to right the wrong of last week. Nothing but positives to say this week and hopefully this can trigger a positive run to end the season. Will be tough given the opposition, but not beyond us if we turn up as we did today.

A note on Scott - 10/10 performance and i had him as MoM all day long. A leaders performance, a goal with the strangest decision from a keeper for a long time (why stand the side of the wall and leave a great free kick taker all that space?) And a very solid defensive showing - couldn't fault that at all.

Thought Averly were a very poor team and can see why they have been relegated. We certainly weren't their favourite opponents at this level as in the 4 games i think thats a 10-0 drubbing (2-0 both games last year and 3-0 this).

10 points clear now of St Albans with 12 to play for and a vastly better goal difference means anything but a St Albans winning 4 games or another point for us completes the safety. In addition, St Albans also still have to play Enfield in a 6 pointer and Truro and Eastbourne.

Have you considered also that Enfield still have to play St Albans

Probably why the final prediction table puts St Albans before Enfield

Can anyone confirm  yesterdays attendance ? Thank You.

It isn't mathematically certain , but nobody I'm sure seriously believes now that we  will go down.
This I hope will give Scott the chance to give a few fringe players a longer playing time opportunity to show what they can do.
I'd like to see Ollie Spicer given a chance to start a match.
When I saw him play in that U19 final match v Maidstone I hoped he'd have a eye-catching performance, but sadly I don't think he did.
Every time though he's come on as a sub for the first team I feel his first thought is always to go forward and attack with the ball, so I definitely would like to see how he'd get on given a start.
Also that new lad who came on yesterday, Sean Duodo.
He looked very raw, but he seemed very direct and powerful.
I was very surprised he challenged the goalkeeper to that high ball with his head.
I thought it was the 'keepers ball all day long but it was very brave and determined of Sean to even attempt to win the ball like that.
I also thought the 'keeper took his chance to get what he thought was payback for this challenge when he intentionally  smashed into Sean at the side of the area in what was a similar situation shortly after.
I thought Sean was definitely worth another look.

Around 750 I believe and I presume Aveley would have brought very few. Not too bad considering our position/form. Just dreading the inevitable departures come the end of the season…

They think we will lose to Torquay and Chesham and beat Hampton and Boreham Wood They also think that the Champions will be decided on GD between Dorking and Truro!
