Spartan South Midlands Division 2 - Eynesbury United (0)3 Stony Stratford Town (0)0 (Lee, Baxter, Gauge), Att: 96.
The Bulls got back to winning ways with a hard fought win at Hall Road. The result cements their current second placed position and with New Bradwell drawing they are very much still in the title race.
The first half was a drab affair and the Bulls only had two efforts of note - Ryan Baxter’s shot went just wide and Ty McLeod had a good effort somehow cleared off the line. The second half was much more exciting with both sides bringing their attacking game to the table. On 54 minutes United thought they had a penalty for handball but the referee thought otherwise much to the annoyance of the Bulls players - Brad Brown said too much and was sinned binned. Down to 10 men and the Bulls stepped up - a great ball into the box saw Conor Lee get his head to the ball and the Bulls had their breakthrough, 1-0.
Minutes later another great ball into the box found Lee again but the Ref. adjudged that Conor had scored with his arm - when clearly it had come off his stomach.
The Bulls were now on top but Stony reminded them that they were still in the game when a quick attack saw Martin having to make a smart save.
The much needed second goal finally came when Nathan Arnold found Baxter with a great ball - with the Stony keeper advancing Baxter lifter the ball over him and into the net, 2-0.
It was not long before two became three - another great corner from Lewis King found Gauge who smartly headed home.
In the end it was a comprehensive victory - but Stony worked hard and made it difficult for the Bulls for long periods. MoM was Sammy Routs - all action performance.
Next up for the Bulls is an away trip on Tuesday night to Codicote, kick off 7:45pm.
